anyone got one? my car broke down in nottingham yesterday and the AA were nice enough to lend me one for 24 hours. it was fantastic. i've only ever driven my ford fiesta (M reg) and my instructor's fiesta (new one) but the volkswagen was such a nice drive. i thought of them as girlie cars previously, but i like them now http://www.modellbahnecke.de/bilder/autoart/59763.jpglooks well gay but trust me its such a nice drive.

Polo's are really nice, I'm a bit of a VW fanboi though. Not as good as a Golf, but still very lovely.

i had to pay £3 to upgrade from a smart car to a polo. golf was only £2 more than polo but as i'm used to driving small cars like my fiesta i thought i'd better stick to a polo, especially as i drove it with no insurance

It drives like a tank - my mum's got a yr old one and I hate it, but she only has 1.0l so it has no poke. Prefer my more spritely Corsa

A nice Focus Zetec are a nice drive. Also the new megane's even though they look shit drive well too. I used to get loads of hire cars through work was cool to drive all sorts of different cars then give 'em back after a few days.

I had a polo as my first car, the model before the one OF posted. It was bad to drive, slow and heavy. On the plus side it was almost indestructable and never broke down once despite me ragging the shite out of it and failing to get it serviced properly. The build quality was vastly superior to that of the 206 that I have currently. It finally died when I pulled across a junction when I shouldnt have and a cavelier hit me doing about 40. Twisted the chassis and written off. The insurance company paid out a grand more than it was worth though - they said it was in good condition when it was clearly fucked happy days

My car: http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carreviews/review.aspx?model_id=1262I'd agree with all of that. Its good fun but not fast enough to be really good fun. I got a bit of a bargain though, paid £10,600 for it, new from a car supermarket 3 years ago. A conservative estimate of its value now seems to be £7k.

wow, that's not devalued much at all, piemonte, good buy.
driving that polo has really made me want a new car. really, really, really want a new car. but i'm a first year student so the chances are zilcho unless i dig myself into a big financial hole or take up drug dealing. or both.
i want one of those new minis.

I used to have a 1.6 K reg fiesta and also drive a W reg fiesta. The handling on the K reg is appalling and that's basically the same as an M reg so anything would probably be an improvement compared to that.
The W reg is much better, superb handling and also a lot quicker even though it's only a 1.25 zetec I've got over 115 out of it. I have driven a corsa a few times too and wasn't impressed, also driven a polo which was better. My driving instructor had a peugeot 206 but it was painfully slow as it was only a 1.1 and didn't handle very well either so I didn't like that much.
