I used to love the phonics and i have seen them live a couple of times! they WERE pretty good but i think they have gone a bit dog shit! Word Gets Around is an ace album though!

I do agree their new stuff isn't as good as their first two albums, but I've never seen them live before so I really want to go and see them. Word Gets Around is brilliant, as is Performance and Cocktails. Then they kind of veered away from the real rocky tunes that made WGA and PAC good. J.E.E.P was pretty shite and You Gotta Go There To Come Back was an utter shambles. I think I've only ever listened to it about 5 times in total. What I don't get is Stuart Cable left the band because he didn't like their style of music, then as soon as he went they vamped up the rockyness again and released Language, Sex, Violence, Other which is a damn good album. |

I saw them at Glasto many years ago and unfortunately they were pants, and that was with their older, better material.
Like I said, many years ago, they may have improved. The music wasn't pants, the performance was.
Glasto does that to people though, I saw the Manics when they were at their peak and they were awful!

I've seen them a few times back in the Word Gets Around/Performance & Cocktails days. Always a good gig. Personally I think they are utter shit now. Saw the Manics too. I first time I saw them they were really good, the second, average. In fact all the big bands I've seen, seem to have fizzled out a little over the years.. Oasis, Ocean Colour Scene....

I saw them at Earls Court in 2003 and thought they were good; got tickets today to see them at Wembley.
Everyone has different tastes; sure you will enjoy it.
