He is/was just an average manager who never really won anything in my view.

Oh dear me!

FA cup and UEFA cup with Ipswich for starters. League titles in holland and portugal as well. Add to that assembling the squad that got England closest to ever winning the world cup outside the shores and i think youve got one impressive managerial c.v to add to an impressive playing c.v. you may not have been trying to be disrespectful but your ignorance in saying that he was an average manager who never won anything is certainly disrespecting the man!

You are correct.  But Ipswich was a million years ago and he failed more or less at Barcelona, Newcastle and with England.  I have even heard rumours that in his current job with Ireland he has been pulling a sicky.

No, it was more like 'Why do people care? People get old, get cancer and die  floghorse '

I don't know about other people, but I find that quite disrespectful.

I was not intending to be offensive here. All I was saying is that old people die and there isn't a lot that we can do about it. I have never really understood why Bobby Robson is considered such a hero anyhow. Everybody hated him in 86 and 88 when England were crap. Now all of a sudden he is some kind of football legend.

He is/was just an average manager who never really won anything in my view.

If you had said very average international manager I would 100% agree with you.  ilke Ted said though he was alright at club level, Barcelona, PSV, Ipswich etc.

There was a cracking series on earlier this year showing loads of original TV coverage of the 86 world cup, most of the country hated the bloke at that point. In 88 it was the same.  Only in 90 when England played shit in the groups, then beat Belgium in the 120th minute of the match, narrowly avoided being embarrassed against Cameroon then lost to Germany did the nation take a shine to the bloke.

As you say old people die, that's what they do, and to get cancer for a 5th time, bloody hell, unlucky Bob.  Hope he's alright!!
