Makes me laugh that the 25 man England squad is refered to as the England performance squad in this article,makes them sound like super heros which of course they aren't.

Tres and Jones have been called up,they are both still centrally contracted so should be really.The wicket keeper position is the interesting one though,Nixon and Prior are the two called up.I wouldn't be surprised if Nixon keeps hold of the gloves for the coming summer,he's done a good job.

I think he's been notionally bold in his selection WK wise - Prior and Nixon have not been the top two test keepers of late Read and Jones have been cast aside by the looks of things - IMHO it is a reasonably brave decision, but kudos Moores for looking at a solution to a longstanding issue.

Can you imagine what the press backlash would have been if MacLaren or this Moores fella came in and picked an entirely different squad and ended up getting beat, there would be uproar.

MacLaren needs to be cut some slack, and this new cricket bloke needs a "honeymoon period" to settle into the roll, I hope people remember how badly England played in the WC this summer if things don't go to plan.
