.....how often do you get wrong numbers, either one the home line or mobile.

We must have some sort of record, we must get on average about 7-10 wrong numbers a day on the home phone.

'Is that Dorcan school'

No it bloody isnt, you've got the wrong number....

Also, the number of people who ring up, I answer tell them they've got the wrong number....then ring us again 2 minutes later.....ffs  :x

I won't tell him my occupation.

He then says ''sorry, there must be some mistake'' and hangs up!

Week after, he rings again!

Call the telephone preference service - that legally makes you unavilable to cold calls - if anyone clals you tell them you're on this list and they shoudl apologise and hang-up.  My folks did this after getting 2+ call a day from cold calling sellers, and it worked a treat.

It's no wonder he keeps calling with conversation that good! make up an occupation and find out what happens next.

Tell him your'e a taxidermist, as you like stuffing dead things, then ask him what he does for a living

Youve got to do this then come and tell us how it goes

We are on the preference list thing and now barely ever get any of those calls. If we do we just say we are on the list and they panic  Cheesy

Bit of a difference between unwanted sales calls and wrong numbers though.

My work phone number must be similar to one at Swindon Hospital. I get calls for them every now and again.

I used to get calls for Johnsons Controls at home about 10-15 times a day, i found answering them rather than ignoring them was the best action now 3 years down the line i barely get 3 a week.

Trust me, whether it's going ex-directory or by joining the Telephone Preference Service it'll make no difference whatsoever.

For example if you've given permission from companies (eg banks) to call you then they will continue to do so.
