Think I'll have to get some pads. Don't fancy facing you lot in the nets without them.

It was ok when I was 13-14 just pissing about with my mates in the nets, plus we used to use those stupid 'slaz' balls.

Have to dig out the rest of my kit, I've got a Gray-Nicholls bat somewhere and a pair of gloves. Oh, and a box as well - very important that.

Perhaps a few of us should get together somewhere for a knock about?

Anyone know of anywhere where we can play in some outdoor nets?

St Joseph has nets probably used only for students. I ll be up for a knock about.

What are the nets like there? My old school (Bradon Forest) had tacky plastic matting rather than artificial grass, which used to ruin your balls ( Oops ).

Really don't mate. Indoor cricket at new college was always fun. Wicket at Dorcan where i went to school is dreadul.

Agreed, it was a right cunt to keep wicket on.

I'll be up for a knock about somewhere during the summer. My pads are still sparkling after buying them and then only playing on for another 2 matches.

The wicket at dorcan was falling apart. It used to die on you as a bastman. I did get hit in the shoulder by a bouncer which shocked me.

Ridgeway school, Croft sports centre and Swindon CC all have nets, if we have a couple of knockabouts in the nets then see who is up for playing for a team and take it from there?

I suppose we can play Saturdays actually seeing as the footy season is over.

I play cricket Saturdays in the summer. Maybe a sunday afternoon would be better? Maybe easier to get somewhere to play then as well?

I'd be up for a bit of a knock about, haven't played in years but played at school and about 4 times a week when i was young, slow bowler and heavy legged batsmen with angry swipes spring to mind as a description of my style.

I have grown up playing for Goatacre.
The first team is a pretty decent standard (about the same as Swindon) but if you move down into the 3rds and the Sunday/Wednesday sides you can have a good laugh and there's a proper village feel (ie cricket then beer is the only acceptable Saturday afternoon!)

I play for Nationwide. We have just recently moved out the Wilts league in to some South West of England leauge. Its 2 divisions where all the 1st teams play in one league and all the 2nd teams play in the other leauge and the fixtures mirror each other. Should be interesting! Do you play?

Anyone know of any schools/somewhere else with an actual cricket pitch we might be able to borrow on a Sunday afternoon?
