Phil Smith gets my vote.

He will only just of played 30 league games by the end of the season though.

Phil Smith just hasn't played enough games to get it. (only played 2 thirds of the season).

And how many times has he kept us in the game during those 30 games?

He came from non league Crawley Town and i was a bit sceptical when he first joined and even more so when Brezovan got injured but i think he's done extremely well to fill Brezovan's place whilst Brez recovered from his broken arm.

My choices would be:-

1) Phil Smith
2) Jerel Ifil
3) Jack Smith
4) Lee Peacock - only due to his recent perfrmances since moving into midfield.
5) Paul Evans

But its not player of the season then is it, it's player of 2 thirds of the season. He's done well but if it wasn't for Brez's injury he wouldn't of got a sniff. Ifil, J Smith and Peacock have pretty much been the first names on the teamsheet all season even when competition for their places existed.

Also Paul Evans in your top 5, he only played about 15 games, surely Williams, Vincent, Zaaboub, Roberts......even POOK would be ahead of him.

No mention of Lukas. Some of his goals have been vital. He probably gain Young player of the year I suppose?

Anyone out of Phil Smith, Peacock and Lukas gets my vote.  Even Roberts should at least gets some praise.

I think it's fair to include Smith in our player of the season nominations, my top three would be.

P Smith
J Smith
Ifil

I voted for Peacock on the PFA thing though.

I'll go with the majority and vote Ifil.

He's easily been our most improved player.

Phil Smith comes a very close second and I'd put Jack Smith third for being so consistent.

Been really impressed with Jerel this season, he seems to have come on a lot, thanks in part to Adys influence.

Phil Smith was a revelation, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who shit himself when Brez got injured!

Jack Smith's been a steady eddie, as has Nicho (Mostly).

Ady played a large part too, showing how a captain should act.

Lukas. His 5 goals are invaluable, he's played his part.

Peacock's been, for me, our most committed player and since moving to CM has been outstanding.

Vincent's gone about his work quietly, hardly gets a mention. But for a defender that's a good thing!

Brez showed us what's in store next season (Hopefully!) Immense!

Robert's has disappointed too many times for me. Arguably our most gifted player, but no application.

Pook's improved, IMO and has put in some good performances.

Weston started well, then faded, then disappeared!

Zaboub will be frightening in League 1, if he can learn to play the simple ball a few times, instead of trying to take 4 players on!

As for the rest.....................

Brown: Didn't want to be here and I think he'll get his wish.

Shakes: Fast, but that's it.

Sturrock Jnr: Ok, but not good enough for League 1.

Corr: Looks good and I hope he stays.

Not gonna do the rest cos I'm bored now........................

Between Peacock, Ifil, and Phil Smith for me.  Not really bothered which one, although at a push I'd go for the beast.

Phil Smith gets my vote. Losing Brezovan could have been a massive problem but Smith has come in and excelled himself. As a result the goalkeeping situation has not been an issue. It doesn't matter to me whether he has played 30 games or 40 games. His contribution has been absolutely vital.

You have to say fair play to little diddy Dennis, he did us proud in the goalkeeping department.

As VD said though, it's nice to be able to have the debate. One season (may have been 99/2000 season) it was so bad I found myself voting for Gareth Hall. GARETH HALL FFS!!!

The Beast. Has to be the Beast.
He has been immense for us this year, thanks largely to Ady who I think has helped bring his game on miles.
Close second would be Phil Smith as our defence is the reason we're where we are this season. But player of the season? it's got to be the beast.
