marvellous!

is our very own reg referenced in a kaiser chiefs song?

"Watching the people get lairy
Is not very pretty I tell thee
Walking through town is quite scary
And not very sensible either
A friend of a friend he got beaten
He looked the wrong way at a policeman
Would never have happened to Smeeton
And old Leodiensian
La-ah-ah, la la lalala la
Ah-ah-ah, la la lalala la
"

Strange.....even stranger is that Leodiensian appears to be a women's rugby team.

Must be a cut and paste job.

An inhabitant of Leeds is locally known as a Loiner, although such terms are rarely used or understood. However, the mock-classical adjectives Leodensian and Leodiensian are sometimes used by some local sports clubs.

that's what i call a cut and paste job

John Smeaton (8 June 1724 - 28 October 1792) was a civil engineer - indeed, he is often regarded as the 'Father of civil engineering’ – responsible for the design of bridges, canals, harbour and lighthouse. He was also a more than capable mechanical engineer and an eminent physicist. He was associated with the Lunar Society.

He died after suffering a stroke while walking in the garden of his family home at Austhorpe, and was buried in the parish church at Whitkirk, West Yorkshire. He is mentioned in the Leeds-based "Kaiser Chiefs" song, "I Predict a Riot", as a symbol of a more dignified and peaceful epoch in Leeds history.

I hate to interrupt the Kaiser Chiefs ‘conversation’ but is anyone heading to Luton tomorrow?
I need a land-mark (preferably a pub!) to head in the direction of….
From what I gather Luton’s a place you drive through, rather than stop at….

It's disgusting isn't it.. I apologise for my ignorance...
It's a good album, I just don't think they're a band particularly suited to the slower tracks.. I find myself getting to the middle of the album and starting again..
So what you up to down in Southampton Mr Pieman?

Not much, doing the usual bollocks of staying all day in front of my pc, combination of fm2005 and this forum. it's been the usual lazy friday (get fridays off from uni  Cheesy )

on the subject of your Luton dilemma, i haven't got a clue. ask reginald, he knows everything. hows the colourful world of Brighton?

Just trying to recover from an all-too-familiar coursework all-nighter!... Brighton's just too damn expensive, we need some dirt-cheap student nightclubs just like jesters?!...
Had some good nights down in Soton, always manage to injure myself though...
