The clues in the title Shrove is a past tense of the verb to shrive.....which means to give absolution to after confession.....those who have been shrived are therefore shriven......so I suppose Shrivenham is a settlement for the shriven. Tomorrow Bushey Boy gets a day all to himself....Ash Wednesday. |
