I'm off for a long weekend on Wednesday night. Apparently it's gonna be minus 23 celsius on our first night!

Anyone else been? Good places to go? I'd like to see a little bit of the place as well as getting spastic.

Mate went thi time last year -  he didn'tdo much sight seeing but I have read it's like what Prague was before it was stag weekend central.  I think Riga is going the same way.  The lash is very good and cheap recommended the cheap local vodka as opposed to the more expensive lagers.  There's bound to be some nice sights to see it's certainly amongst the more interesting cities in the former Eastern Bloc - I think it has quite a compact city centre from what I have been told.

Riga is the bomb.

Go to pu-pu's bar (means tits in latvian, say no more) you won't be disappointed. Roxys is quality, Nautilus was a bit shit, fucking trance. Voodoo was pretty good if I could remember it!!

The point is though it doesn't matter where you go, the totty is the best I've ever seen. Eastern european women are fucking stunningly beautiful and they quite like a bit of the old English if you know what I mean.

We went about 3 years ago though and it was relatively untouched, I hear it's getting more and more like prague all the time, you have to keep heading further east to keep away from likeminded cunts like yourself all with the same idea!!

We even managed to take in a Rigan derby while we were there, I bought a Skonto Riga football shirt in honour of the 6-0 spanking they dished out to city rivals Auda Riga.

Either way, Riga is the bomb. Cool

The old city centre is small and attractive, and the city as a whole isn't as blighted by communist buildings.  Not sure exactly what there is to see as I didn't really do anything touristy, but you could go for a boat trip down the river, or see the guards by the war memorial(I think).  Also, if you wander out of the city centre a bit you can find markets where you can buy 10 albums in mp3 format for about a quid, plus cheap films/games.

Nightlife is okay, although I think I was there during the week, there was still a club open.  Drinks aren't really that cheap, £1.30 a pint maybe, but the vodka is definately worth a try even if like me you don't normally touch the stuff.  It's already become a popular stag-do/sex tourist destination to a certain degree, and if you are in a large group of lads a couple of prostitutes will probably latch onto you for the evening.  I saw this happen to one particular group of wankers who thought they'd pulled.  At one point they were getting very lairy with one of the girls so I caught her eye to ask if she was okay.......she just winked and raised her glass to me, so I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one watching in case they over-stepped the mark.

There are some nice bars in the centre that you can sit outside of, and there's even an English pub if you fancy a pint cloudy cider(I did, but I hadn't been home in two months).  In the strip bars you won't see any stripping, unless you pay for a private show with the girl who is sent to talk to you.  I only went there to drink really, which is how I ended up ranting about western society/the british abroad to a Latvian stripper at six in the morning.  She actually seemed quite interested and ended up getting shouted at for not leaving soon enough, but then I guess it would be quite interesting if all you normally have to listen to is sleazy compliments.

That's about it really except to say have a good time, head out of Riga for a day trip, and if a Latvian tells you he's Russian.......just nod.
