Back today from my weekend in Polska. Had a wicked time, Krakow is a really nice city, dirt cheap with loads of pubs and clubs. We started drinking at lunchtime on the Friday and were barred from 3 pubs as I was singing 'wise men say' at the top of my voice and more bizzarely the Stoke City anthem 'Delilah'. I got lost trying to find our hostel and it took me 2 hours to realise I had a bloody card in my pocket and I could have jumped in a taxi. Had a traditional Polish stew on the Friday before we went out which was pretty much beef and sausages but was delicious. My mates had some sort of dumpling thing which looked interesting although apparently wasn't very nice, like little parcels with meat, mushrooms in etc.

Saturday we went to Auchwitz and we went with a tour guide, a tall elegent pole. It was a real eye opener and the standing cells were ridiculously small. Certainly puts things into perspective and I saw some people struggling to hold back tears. Later that day we went to an Irish bar called Irish Mbassy which has the most amazing Polish women, everyone was cute as. After the rugby, a few more drinks and some crack with these Irish, we got a taxi to some strip club called Route 66 (i think). We were treated like Kings in the club and all of the women were top drawer.

I felt incredibly rough today and would like to go back to Krakow as I feel there was lots of the city I didn't explore enough. Apart from Prague it was my first journey to Eastern Europe and was cool to see a load of FSO Polonez's, probably the worst car ever made!!

Not really, I was hungover on Saturday morning, was good to wander about in the cold walking around Aushwitz, was a must see place and I don't regret going.

So I'm on a stag do (original) in two weeks time to Krakow. Looked at a few pubs to visit, but heard that the main square is more expensive?

Krakow is no where near as cheap as it used to be, but for a big city its still relitivly cheap compated to say london.
Its a possible location for my stag do too.

Looking at 'pub' prices they are approximate 8zl for 0.5l. Not bad. But heard that the main square is 50% more expensive?

Loads of bars/clubs just so many to choose, and to fit in over two days. Want to get in Wisla Krakow's last game of the season in as well if possible...

They are playing Slask Wroclaw - who can still win the league.

What are their 'ardant' supporters like?!

I've been to Krakow a couple of times, with the last time being last year.
I remember a club called Prozac being really good from my first vist 4 years ago. I found the prices have gone up quite a lot now but as other have said, its still relatively cheap.
The Salt Mines are worth a visit as well as the camps if you do want to do the cultures thing.
Just had a flash back to when we went 4 years ago....
We got inticed in to a bar by two very attractive girls. We were given all the usually promises about how it was full of people and how cheap the drinks were. Anyway in short we went in and it was dead. So we place our drinks orders with these girls who then gave us the bill. Think they were charging us something like €60 for a JD and Coke. So we went to walk out but we upended by some Polish meatheads (Ivan Drago lookalikes). Think we managed to get out of it because one of the lads was on his phone pretending to be on the phone of to the police. I probably haven't done that sorry justice but I guess my point is be careful when you go in to. I'd say if you can't see through the windows or anyone else going in there, probably best to give it a miss.
There were quite a lot of America students on placements in Krakow. They're always up for the English charm if anyone's looking to score without parting with money!
 Good Luck

It's really frightening that 2007 was five years ago.
