Had a similar thread before I came over to Luxembourg and have a similar dilemna now. I have 15,000 ish Euro to buy a car and the 3 I have whittled it down to are

A) Audi 1.8T S3
B) VW Golf 2.8 VR6
C) Honda Civic Type R

At the moment, these are in the position most likely to purchase. I want something that is powerful, confortable, has a few toys and reasonably practical (we have to change to winter tyres over here each year because of the weather). Fuel economy is not an issue as Petrol over here is the cheapest in Europe 1 Euro a litre and 88 cents a litre for Diesel I think.

Going to have a look around at motors today as I have never driven these before. The Audi is 4wd and seems to be swinging it for me at the moment.

Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

Audi S3 for smooth, fast, stylish motoring.

Golf VR6 for big fuel bills.

Honda Civic Type R for hooligan, edge of the seat thrills.

My next car will be an Alfa 147, bit of a gamble as workmanship can be a little dodgy so I hear.  Thoughts Ralph?

I drove a 2.0 Selespeed just after it came out. Nice to drive, but I'd be concerned by reliability and build quality (although to be fair, its leaps and bounds ahead of previous generations of Alfa's).

I wouldn't buy one personally.

I'm after the new Lexus IS...

Ok, I went a bit mad today and ended up buying a 2003 Audi S3 3.2 V6. Was a beast of a car! Can't wait until I collect it in about a weeks time!! The guy wanted 17900 Euro but I haggled it down to 16500 Euro which is £11k, pretty sure that is a good price.
