When I was 18 I had the same thing happen to me with Lloyds.I had to open another really basic account with Alliance and Leicster with my Mum acting as a guarantee.Lloyds never got thier money back I think at the time the couldnt chase it because they had given me an overdraft when I was 16

Lloyds seem to pride themselves on getting youngsters into debt. They are a fucking discrace.

The HSBC in Plymouth is atrocious for customer service - especially organisation.
I went to pay my rent and went to the cashier bit - they told me that they don't do that (at the cashier bit!) and I had to queue at the customer services bit, which is a bit of a free-for-all.

A couple of times I needed my o/d temporarily extended. Every branch I went into said that it's HSBC policy not to do that anymore with students (which I knew was bollocks). Went to the main branch in Southampton in the end. They were happy to do it and sorted it out within 30 minutes of talking to someone.
The student branch was even more useless than any other one I've been to.

I hate HSBC at times, I loved the time the women in old town wouldnt increase overdraft by £500 for 3 days while I booked a flight somewhere. She started talking very loudly in front of a queue saying I couldnt afford to pay it back, I then quietly explained that there was £42k hitting my account within 3 days and could she do this or should I see my business manager. Baffoon
Have to go in the bank On monday and ask for a 7k overdraft for tax, cant see it happening to be honest.

Just chatted to the debt people, amazing how nice they are compared to the HSBC monkeys. So that's sorted for the time being which is a bit of a relief.
Shame my credit rating is now shafted more than Bennett's bum hole.

Paying off £40 a month to start off with. So who to get a bank account with, only be able to get a basic one to start of with now I presume, so it doesn't really make much odds.

I've been with Halifax all my life. never had a problem. Last time I went in to ask for an extension on my overdraft they asked me how much. I asked how much can they extend it by and they said 5 grand!
I didn't accept it tho.

I'm gonna send them a letter!
I feel completely drained after all that, not used to actually having to do stuff which may involve a stressful situation. Yawn. Think I'm working this evening as well. Might have to get some kip.
