You're all wrong. The best film is Evil dead 2, closely followed by all Sam Raimi's other films and the original Dawn of the dead.

We would be wrong if it was 'the best film ever' thread, but it's not.

So your favourite film would differ from what you consider the best film?

How queer.

I didn't really enjoy Requiem for a Dream. It's a good film and well directed but it's far too painful and uncomfortable to enjoy.

Some of my other favourite films...

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Fargo
Ghost World
La Haine
Léon
Mullholland Dr
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Taxi Driver

I can't pick one or even make a list, as it would take forever to get it right.

Some films I have watched recently and would strongly recommend are:
Tsotsi
The Proposition
Brick

Totally agree.  Ends of such a downer.

And I thought Pi was a bit shit.

My favourite is City Of God, but have only seen it once because I'm afraid it won't be as good second time around.

Seen all those Rich!

Fucking love Cagney/Bogart/Robinson in the old gangster flicks.

Bogart was an ace baddie, much better than when he was the good guy.

I gave it a spin  for the 2nd time last week, the first was a random channel flick through sky and had no idea it was actually Requiem.

Feel like I’ve missed something on both occasions now though, as I had it down as average at best.  Aside from the overall downer, granny on speed and the obvious double dildo fun what is it that got you hooked, or have I answered my own question there?

‘Best’ film for me has to be Clive Barker’s original Hellraiser.  Brilliantly lifted from the book and the best modern horror film in terms of atmosphere and originality.  Coincidently he’s writing a follow-up that cuts all of the franchised sequel crap out of the saga.
