.....the Adver have had to print a retraction describing Holt's statement that there was no Boardroom rift as infamous.

Because infamous apparently means "of bad reputation"

There are some rattled people in RG 14.

Infamy infamy ..they've got it infamy

Mmmmmmmmmmmmatron. Looks like the relationship between the board and media (and everyone) has just about broken down then. Pull up the drawbridge and get ready for the siege...

Reminds me of the time the then Coventry City chairman threatened to sue the admin of the Rivals site because a poster had called him a rogue (or something similar). The admin removed the offensive posting just 1hr after it was made, as soon as he knew about it.

In the end loads of people paid into a fund to help the admin out. The Cov city chairman backed down and all was well.

Its usually a sign that things are getting tense when the powers that be fall out with their local media....the irony here of course is that ours are ever so gentle on the regime.....this may stir them up a bit, to take the gloves off.

I think the gloves fell off a few weeks ago when the club asked the media to contact them before printing any stories to get the "facts"

Quote from: "adver"

AN article describing events leading up to the departures of Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet in the October 24 edition of the Swindon Advertiser stated that board member Bob Holt had “infamously’’ insisted there was no power struggle at the County Ground.

Mr Holt has since pointed out that the dictionary definition of infamous is ‘having a bad reputation.’

We are happy to set the record straight and apologise for any offence caused.

Is it just me or do the adver not really retract their comment. It reads like they are thanking Bob Holt for defining infamous for them.

I've just read it and come to the same conclusion, very clever, not like the Adver at all.

Basically thanking Bob for explaining what they meant.

Ace it's probably not just my skewed reading of it then. Go the adver.

The more i read it, the funnier it becomes.  Not sure I've seen the Adver go into sarcastic mode before.

Great business sense to alienate the "ungrateful" fans and the "inaccurate" Adver.  Just what fans have come to expect from this "infamous" and "inept" lot.

Made me chuckle as well, it's so well done it manages to draw more attention to the infamy of Bob than sticking the same article on the front page of News of the Screws.
