he's got excellent coaching pedigree, highly rated in holland, the dutch second tier of football is probably better than league 2 as well.
i liked him as a player too.

I dont get the excitment I really dont.Im not trying to be difficult and im sure we could probably do alot worse but hes the manager of a second division Dutch club whcich is the equivalent of our non league isnt it and he played for us briefly. So why exactly is everyone creaming themselves im willing to be convinced? he was assistant to Louis Van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar when they got to the final or the semi final whatever it was of the UEFA Cup and he now manages the smallest team in the dutch league and he has got them third

Hmm maybe its because I lost interest in the Premiership year that I have no paticular fondness for him.

eredivisie (prem) then eerstedivisie (championship) telstar are in the eerstedivisie, second tier of dutch football. the capacity of their ground is 3,250, looking at the match report for their last game ( here) they got a crowd of 1,503.

Although as mentioned they are a small club the actual comparative level of football would be the conference.

Telstar are in a bit of a slump.... http://www.soccerway.com/teams/netherlands/stormvogels-telstar-combinatie/ The Jupiler League.....has a number of sides who yo yo betwen it and Eredivisie.....but the structure of Dutch football because its a small country means it would be impossible to find a double European Champion like Forest in the third tier.

Im not as equally miserable about this, more sitting on the fence.I think people on these boards get carried away when frankly they dont really know what they are talking about.I completely admit I have no clue of his managerial record..like I say im willing to be convinced but aint going crack one off.

Surely it sturrock would be the better choice? if nijolt had never played for us would we be getting so excited? says in the express today that sturrock is leadeing the race for the job and he would be my choice over nijholt any day. Sure the nostalgia would be good for the first week or so but i just think he would be a bit lost.

I'm not sure if someone posted this, but in my trawl yesterday I discovered he coached AZ's Under 16, Under 18 and Under23's all to Championships before getting the Assistant role to Van Gaal.
If nothing else he'll be able to get the players to pass to each other. Maybe we can go for Total Football with a fluid 3-4-3 formation.
