Nah someone on here I believe said they are the new Sonic Youth.  A band people pretend to like to look cool, and to cover up their secret stash of Savage Garden, Britney Spears and Slipknot albums.

They're alright, but nothing special, and certainly don't deserve the hype surrounding them.

By the way:

I liked Helicopter, heard a couple of other songs which seemed okay. However, Kaiser Chiefs sound the business from what I've heard - will be investing in their album shortly.

Yeessssss. Get the album definitely. I've had it for a couple of months now, Wink  every song is great they deserve any hype they're getting and much more.

Positive Tension, Luno, Blue Light, So Here We Are, LIke Eating Glass and Helicopter are all  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool .

Album of the year so far without a doubt. A good bet for the 2005 mercury music prize.

downlaoded bloc party's album a couple of days ago but havn't listened to it enough to decide if I like it.  Got several Kaiser Chief songs as well. They seem pretty awesome. Are they named after a south african football team??

I saw Bloc Party and Kaizer Chiefs in S'oton, and they were both very good. I think i slightly prefer The Chiefs, but as the album isnt likely to be out for a month or possibly 2, Bloc Party is never out of my car stereo at the moment.

i can t see yet what all the hype is about bloc party, i went to that nme tour gig in brizzle which i didn t think was that great but the futureheads were the best band there. I enjoyed watching the bravery at the zodiac far more, but the album i am waiting for this year is from maximo park who are great, ooh and the coral's new album out in spring.

I like them because They've got the whole loud/quiet thing down to perfection. They remind me of At the drive-in slightly which is only ever a good thing and the singer Kele has a great voice

Every song on the album is very different and it's one of the few albums where every single song is also fucking great.

Positive Tension is unbelievable, has everything in one song.

Something glorious is about to happen
