Sod the fucking formation (which Platt will probably explain was the cause of the second world war), it's the fucking players.
All the chances we conceeded were almost all down to individual idiocy or lack of ability at international level. Neville not following the bloke who ran past him, Cole letting the only player on his side in behind him, Ferdinand or Terry not marking anyone, at all, bad passing and a lack of movement.
Sorry bu my fears over players such as Lampard and Crouch seem to have finally been born out when we play half decent teams.
Personally, I think we'll do no better than we have for the past 16 years with players such as Lampard, Crouch, Parker, Carrick etc being the top we can offer. All have their abilities, don't get me wrong, but they are not world beaters. Carrick is too stationery, Lampard is well, useless unless he is allowed to hang off the forward, Parker ran about alot and seems like an International Pook.
Time to address to real problem - the set-up of football in this country and the money in the Prem. Not enough young English talent has the where with all to get off their reserve team arses and go and play some proper football. Too many teams having to focus on better skilled foreign players to keep people paying £60 for a ticket and Sky paying billions to televise it.

Agreed. Too many foreigners. I still don't understand why nobody in the Prem has taken a chance on Nugent. Good English talent. Fuck how much he'll cost, it doesn't matter, that lot in the Prem have got cash coming out of their ears - even the poor ones. All we're doing by splashing cash on foreigners in the Prem is improving the quality of football in OTHER countries. Diabolical. |
