Whilst undoubtedly the statement issued today has been a dissapointment to both the fans and the trust, especially since our gratitude and respect to the Wills family was publicly endorsed in the minutes of last Wednesday's meeting, could I please urge you all to demonstrate a modicum of restraint on how we, the fan base respond to the the way that this has been thrown into the public domain.

At no time has the trust been disrespectful either in its comments, or its processes and we completely refuse to be drawn into a tit for tat scenario.

Sure, the minutes were issued for all to see, and quite rightly so........... just as the meeting was open for ANY interested party to attend.

The minutes were a truthful and actual version of what you, the fans wanted to levy and thats what we did. There was no fabrication or embroilment.

Whilst the consitution of the trust is founded, by nature on democracy, it is also democratic for fans to table thier opinions as they see fit.

Freedom of speech apart, we are also governed by laws that state we cannot simply issue carte blanche detrimental opinions about individuals or bodies of individuals without demonstarating facts to substantiate our claims.

Whilst we, the trust are on your side and share your pain and frustration, we need to be in a strong position of negotiation.

It is with this in mind and, trying to be a voice of reason, that I urge that we rise above any inclination to issue personal knee jerk reaction statements.

Rather, we should be discussing these issues privately, then be reliant on one body to respond in a constructive and calculated way.

Please dont take this as a rant.

Passion is absoloutly key to achieve what we the fans need. All I ask that we do it rationally and through one voice.

Cheers

Why should that "one voice" neccesarily be the Trust?

These forums are here as means of discussion, I can't take any credit for their creation or their upkeep but I don't believe in censoring people either. As you say, caution must be exercised with matters as delicate as they currently are but it's not to say that discussion shouldn't be allowed in the public domain. Otherwise, these forums would be even more pointless than usual.

More to the point - and this isn't intended as an insult - since when were you the mouthpiece for the Trust?

If it's about what I wrote earlier then I'm sorry  Crying

In all honesty I thought I'd added the word 'maybe' before what I said (or something similar to show it was an opinion) but in my haste to get dinner on the go I guess I didn't.

Anyway, back to my original point - why should that one voice neccesarily be the Trust?

I think the majority of us are capable of expressing our own opinions in a perfectly capable and mature manner.

Whilst I accept that the Trust are in the best position to put these things into motion, I don't agree that they are the only channel through which we, as fans, can voice our opinions.

I witnessed some backbiting between two supporters' groups at the weekend which makes me feel rather bitter. If ever there was a time to be united, it's now.

The thing is what I said would be highly subjective in court anyway as fiduciary duties are hard to ascertain. I was basing that argument wholey on that one statement (which I made clear) and also made an argument which shows what I would personally constitute as a reasonable person's actions given the appropriate postition of power.

In my opinion I think it was a perfectly reasonable statement to make, but as one person obviously didn't interpret that way I guess others could which is why I changed it to better reflect the opinion I was trying to put across.

I agree sonic. I don't have anything against the trust. I haven't yet joined (but would consider it). My only issue is that my voice would get lost along the way, which would defeat the object for me.
