From Roddy Radiations post on myonlyswindon.com 'Just seen this article in the WDP and it sounds like they are after Devlin now for unauthorised spending. It also says "Earlier this week Holt told the Daily Press that Devlin had agreed the deal to bring Paul Ince to Swindon without the 'appropriate consultation' of the board" but on the official site when Ince signed the following was said "The board of Swindon Town FC would also like to thank acting Chief Executive James Wills and Finance Director Sandy Gray for their tireless work in putting the deal together to bring Paul Ince to the club" I think Mr Holt is a bit confused over the truth here.' :shake: Seems to me the club want to blame the Ince transfer on Devlin. But at the time the official site said that James Wills and Sandy Gray were the ones who engineered the deal. Come on Town fans. For once dont take this. If the club goes back to the way it was I dont think I can bear to see us run down any longer. We need football people pulling the club up by its football socks. Weve suffered enough. WDP link

"When Dennis Wise (Swindon manager) came to me about Paul Ince it was clear that brining in someone like him was a considerable investment," said Devlin. "So at every stage in the negotiations I spoke with James Wills and Bill Power as they would be the two people who would have been required to fund the deal if it was over the playing budget.
"My understanding all the way along was that they were happy to proceed. Obviously things have changed since I had the accident and I cannot comment on that.
"I would never look to bring in a player that the major funders would not want. That has never happened under me and never will. If the club did not want to bring in Paul Ince, then nobody was under any pressure to do so. At any stage the club could have changed its mind."
I wonder what the disciplining will be for Devlin then? Lets have a show trial. And all the while Town fans say. 'Lets base it on the facts here'. :arsekisser:

to be fair, it seems that everytime bob holt opens his mouth, he contradicts something he said earlier and seems to have the same effect of chucking petrol on a fire.
mark devlin's comment about how overspends or whatever should be talked about in the board room and no where else is spot on, if anyone needs disciplining he wouldn't be top of my list !
But frankly I know nothing, and I'm getting bored of the board now - I'll be happy with 2-2 tomorrow...

Bob Holt doesn't know anything. The impression I get is that he makes big statements based on his version of the facts and when it turns out he is completely wrong he's left with egg on his face. This has seemingly happened quite a bit this week.
I think it just confirms how good Devlin's PR have been.
