after my old one finally breaking, i'm now getting round to replacing it. i want an ipod because i like the way it organises the songs on the player and its compatibility with iTunes, which i use for playing music on my PC. i'm torn between the nano and regular ipod, though. not sure if i will use the video playback on the regular ipod much, so was looking at nano's but when comparing the two: regular, with video, 30gb - £160 (normally £180, but reconditioned on ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/115408) nano, no video, 2gb - £112 seems a bit silly to not pay the little extra for 15 times the amount of storage. 2gb is about 40 albums, right? what do people think of their ipods? do you use the video? has your nano got enough space? |

I don't have an ipod but itunes is shit. It wouldn't put me off an ipod though, but I'd probably look around at others too if I were to get an mp3 player

i'm quite tempted by the nano now, they're bloody tiny and i'm rubbish having a load of songs to choose from - i end up skipping track all the time.
i find itunes much easier to use than media player/real player, although i've not really given them much of a chance to be fair.

i've got a 2GB nano and have got about 380 songs on it at the moment including about 10 photo's...i went for it because it was so small and the ipod with video eats away at the battery life

I usually use winamp but I found sonicstage surprisingly good to use. The problem I found with itunes is the lack of features  |

i used to use winamp at work, seemed alright.
what features do you need?
all i want to do is play songs. its easy to browse my library in itunes too, its organised well.

I'm going for the Cowon iAudio X5 60Gb (or X5L = 30Gb but much longer battery life). The sound quality is supposed to be far superior to anything else. You can play ogg and flac formats and are not bound by those bloody ID3 tags that itunes insists on. You can just drag and drop folders from your pc without using any proprietry software.

The nano is wank, i've got the 2gb one, the battery life is awful, its nice and small but useless for long trips

how long roughly whits?
seeing as i used to have a 3g ipod i'm used to them lasting about 3 hours, so anything is likely to be an improvement.

I've got an iPod video thingy. The 30Gb one. I love it, and rarely leave the house without it.
Battery life is about 11 hours if you listen to just music, and about 2 if you watch videos. I don't use the video option very often, but I do have a few Simpsons episodes, and the Office series 2 on there. It can waste half an hour or so sometimes.
I have around 1,000 songs on there, plus the video content, and this takes up just 8Gb! Impossible to fill the bloody thing if you ask me.
