I just listened to the Ince interview on STFC World and the sound quality is totally abysmal. At one time it was the same as listening to the radio on an FM frequency i.e crystal clear but it's gone right down hill. Today it sounded like Ince had his head stuck down the bog or in a cupboard or some other confined space.

The club must have some control over the quality because on other official websites they even have video interviews with players/management and the sound quality is spot on.

That was embarassingly bad.

And yes, I will e-mail STFC World / the club. I just wanted to moan about it.

Thanks for your time.

I think a lot of it is probably down to the equipment used ...

I'm pretty sure a lot of the recent interviews have been done on dictaphones which is just not ideal at all. Ok if all you're doing is transcribing, total shitter for the general public to listen to.

Dunno if STFC have a decent video camera or a person trained to used it properly.

Hopefully with the new regime in place that will be looked at in due course. It wouldn't exactly cost the club a lot of money after all!

in their defense though, i have noticed that when they actually do get their act together and actually broadcast swindon commentary, we are a bit spolit - the time we had to listen to the stockport commentary it was abysmal (one chap really quietly would say something, then his fuckwitted mate would then repeat what he said, in words of one syllable, at ear splitting volume) and the bit of darlington commentray i listened to sounded like an mp3 recorded at 4bits/s.  The swindon commentary at least occasionally comments on whats happening in the game and is reasonably good quality - if only they could remember to turn it on before kick off, we'd be laughing

yeah it'd be good for them to make the effort - I reckon it pays off. Just take a look at the club sites that have made some effort, they're streets ahead of our own.

I think they are looking to improve the quality of the website & want to start doing the video interviews soon - there was a thing in the programme against stockport asking for any 'budding steven speilbergs' to contact the club if they were interested in helping out with video filming & editing etc

Good. That must be to do with the website then.

If you take a look at, say the Peterborough site, it's not exactly Sky Sports standard but is still way better than ours.

There must be some Town supporting media studies student out there who would jump at the chance to kick it into shape.

Steam in then!

I imagine the only other requirement would be that you don't go "ga ga goo goo" when placed in front of a camera and microphone Wink

i contacted them about doing that and haven't had a response  :? i thought it'd be a good opportunity for me to get some experience with using cameras/editing suites but oh well!

i think the poor quality interviews are probably ones which are done at the training ground as opposed to the county ground, hence the use of dictaphones et al.

I remember when I worked there we did a great interview with kjingy pre-season, really funny. Problem was the pitch was being mowed in the background - you couldn;t hear owt! I suspect it's the dictaphone, or depending on where the interview took place...

You have to register to get on the official site (which will also allows you onto all the league clubs' official sites) but you don't have to pay anything. I imagine you will just need to re-register.
