I noticed nobody had really mentioned (many people noticed?) we've reverted back to red shorts this year. I always think traditions are better kept in football where kit colours are concerned and that we should stick to white shorts as it’s traditional.

Well that’s what I thought years ago as I hadn’t discovered yet that our kit has changed completely over the years.

its kind of hard to keep up with traditions looking at that. But what could happen next year to help? A revert back to some black in the kit come instead of green which is very 90sish but too much may be unpopular.

Perhaps a white shirts, black shorts and socks away strip?

It would have been an ideal time this year to have done one of these marketing wise as its the 125 anniversary. (Ala arsenal redcurrant Highbury kit)

The black shorts of the Mackay period were universally reviled, coinciding , with a lapse in our history, involving a hopeless relegation and plummeting gates.

That it looked OK was neither here nor there a lot of fans thought it unlucky.

During our "glory period" it would appear we wore all red.

On that basis we should always wear all red. We look less like Brissol City/Manyoo that way also which is a bonus.

Why not....its seems to be acceptable these days to come up with any sort of abomination for an away kit...see that gold and black stripes horror of a couple of seasons back....it always used to be all blue, sometimes with white socks.

weve had loads of colours for away kits though, looking back weve had a pretty nice white and black away in the 80s

Except for when it was all white.
I've always liked the white kits but I still have a soft spot for the mint green away shirts (especially the Castrol one)

I like this year's away shirt, and the one from when we went down from Division 1 last time around with the light blue panels

These are my favourite.. I never got the 3rd kit in this season because I already had both the home and away.. I can't find them these days (not that they would fit!)
I thought the blue and black panel shirt was the bollocks..

I'm sure this was the first time I'd seen a multi-coloured sponsors logo on a football shirt..

You're right.. in my head I was just thinking it was the first time I'd seen the kind of soft raised lettering that most sponsors names were embossed with rather than the 'sheet' that was the GWR one (and the current Nationwide one for that matter)

Up until tuesday I wore that blue/black halves shirt to every game Cheesy . I'm retiring it now though, aside from the odd 5-a-side.
