My aged brain was telling me that we signed a Darlo player in the 1960's and I could picture him playing for us, dark haired and upright build. Checked it out, and it was James Lawton, who we exchanged for our Alan Sproates, a virtual unknown, in 1965. Lawton scored 4 goals for us in 13 games, I remember him scoring, then he left for Watford in 1967.

Jimmy Lawton...think we paid 12K with Sproates going in the other direction, Quakers got the best of the deal, as Sproates did 305 league games for them as opposed to the 3 for us....Sproates did have a pretty good haircut though. Jimmy Lawton was also a decent cricketer and turned out for the STFC side in the midweek Swindon Minor Works Cricket League.

Yes, Im the msnquaker of the-tinshed site.
Don't know why it says we have no bars, there are two that I know of.
The best one if probably the one next to the club shot/ticket office. Has a big screen as well in the bar, always fun to watch a match on Sky before hand if there is one.
Have a safe journey.
