I'm looking to let my place in the near future, does anyone recommend any letting agents in Swindon and what percentage they charge/take?

Well I rented through Dewhirsts, a new flat up in Old Town.  When we moved out they stung me for anything they could get away with.  The cunts.  So from a landlord point of view that could be seen as a good thing.  Although they're all a bunch of rude, arrogant bastards especially the fella in the commercial road branch.

always deal on a one to one basis, dont understand how the corporates charge £100 - £!50 for a reference when it only costs £11.50 to do one. Dewhurst do have a reputation for loving themselves to be fair.

Most corporate agents charge around £100 - £150 to each tenant to do a search etc.  Your normally have to pay  amonths dposit and a months rent up front.  Your best bet is to look at the local paper and find a private landlord who manages properties themselves.
