I don't know much about this subject, so can someone tell me why people get pissy about whale hunting, but don't feel the same emotion about the graceful Cod? Thanks.

Don't get me started on this subject Currant
Whales are mammals not fish, so should not be treated like fish.

Millions of cows and sheep - not millions of whales.
Also we don't harpoon and torture sheep and cows by dragging them behind us whilst still alive.

Whales are not really able to be bred in captivity and are being hunted to extinction, Cows and Sheep are bred to be eaten and used for all sorts of other things, Whales are hunted purely for blubba. They are shot with a harpoon which explodes inside them, this does not kill them out right, they are left to bleed to death.

Over "whaling" for years - Norwegian's and Japanese I believe who still carry on regardless. Bit harder to retain the numbers of whales than cod due to the breeding nature. Plus whales make odd noises and make girls go "ahhhhh", whereas fish look good in batter.

Vera Lynn was fond of eating marine mammals - who can ever forget her rendition of 'Whale Meat again....'
