ben mezrich has done some good books, stories based on real life. The first one's about some MIT kids who shit on vegas - they're really good 'can't put down' books

I read Ugly Americans about US traders in the Far East in the early 90's.  Was quite interesting although it left me with alot of unanswered questions, I'm sure alot of which werew to protect the source.  Someone told me the Vegas one was a much better book.

It was the Da Vinci Code for me last year

Just started reading The Da Vinci Code  Cool

i'm just finishing it. Must do soon though as going to see the film when it comes out. Hope it's better than the reviews it's getting.

Really enjoyed the Da Vinci Code, gonna get me a couple of Dan Brown's other books now.

I've gotta go see the film, hopefully gonna go tomorrow.  Cool

I'm right at the end of the book; so will finish it today or tomorrow. Has got much better at the end. Going to see the film on Thursday.

Of course 1984 is his best work, but i do think Homage to Catalonia is also brilliant, his Essays collection from Penguin is great too .

Homage to Catalonia is his best non-fiction book by far I think.  I loved the way the Anarchists basically just took orders(although they never actually had to), because they knew they had to have some sort of structure to survive.

1984 for me is too depressing, I prefer Animal Farm for it's simplicity yet brilliance.  Also well ahead of his time in being a socialist who could see the dangers in communism(something else he learnt while fighting in Spain).
