I'm not really looking forward to this one, can't see anything good coming out of it unfortunately. Bringing a mate along but oh well!

Should this be called "The Crap/Skint Fans Thread"?

I'm kind of wishing I had gone today, but I don't really have the money and as I don't get to go to many games, I like to see a good performance, and I don't think today will be a good performance.  However, I reckon we'll bounce back today, and it'll be a similar scenario to Mansfield at home.  I reckon we will win 3-0, and it looks like we're only missing Andy Nicholas and Christian Roberts, with Jerel Ifil being suspended.

I would play:

GK : Rhys Evans
DR : Steve Jenkins
DL : David Duke
DC : Shaun O'Hanlon (c)
DC : Matthew Heywood
MR : Lee Holmes
ML : Brian Howard
MC : Matthew Hewlett
MC : Stefani Miglioranzi
FC : Sam Parkin
FC : Rory Fallon

S1 : Steve Book
S2 : Luke Garrard
S3 : Sammy Igoe
S4 : Jamie Slabber
S5 : Grant Smith

Sonic Youth or some Forum Wizz - you have to show me how to line the players up properly!

That, for me, would be the sensible team to play.  Requiring solidarity at the back, I would stick with Evans as 'keeper (there is no viable alternative in my opinion) and get the captain and best player in the team, O'Hanlon, at centre back.  I'd drop Garrard to the bench as I do not think he is good enough to play when everyone is fit.

Sammy Igoe is carrying a niggling back injury I believe, although is declaring himself fit.  Taking the assumption that Holmes can play on the right, I would give Howard a start as he is a spark in the team that can create something.  I would start Miglioranzi over Smith, relegating Smith to the bench, although that would be a difficult decision to make as Miglioranzi looked exceptionally poor against Southend although in fairness to him he was playing on the right wing which is not his natural position.  I do not like seeing Miglioranzi playing on the wing as he is not effective, although he did do a good job on the left earlier in the season away at Colchester.

I would also stick with Fallon up front rather than give Slabber a go as he has looked promising in recent weeks and it would be unfair to give up on the lad.  I personally think he should have started against Brentford, and Slabber is a very nice option to come off the bench.

Unless there are further injuries, for me it looks like we have an extremely strong team today.  Steve Robinson and Alan Reeves, two very capable first team players, have no place in the squad, so a defeat today would be a disaster.  There are no excuses today.  The players have to perform, the manager has to organise and motivate, and the crowd has to support.

I am predicting Swindon to come out and fight.  It won't be great football, but I reckon we will still win 3-0.  Perhaps I'm feeling overly optimistic as I had a dream last night about the 5-2 win at Edgely Park, but I would expect the more senior players in the side to gee up the less experienced.

Parkin '28
Howard '52
Fallon '79

Piss poor attendence of 4,894.  King to have a pop at the fans in his post-match interview.

Agree Walrus, but think Slabber could start ahead of Fallon.

Teams are in and its how I suspected King would play - he is giving starts to Igoe, Slabber and Smith.  One surprise is Miglioranzi is dropped to the bench, as is Howard wich I think is unfair and frankly wrong.  Reeves is on the bench, so Garrard is not even in the squad.

Full teams:

1 Rhys Evans      :      James Spencer 13

2 Sean O'Hanlon      :      Jim Goodwin 12

6 Steve Jenkins      :      Joe Dolan 18

19 Matthew Heywood      :      Ashley Williams 5

11 David Duke      :      John Hardiker 2

7 Sammy Igoe      :      Chris Williams 22

3 Grant Smith      :      Keith Briggs 15

4 Matthew Hewlett      :      Mark Bridge-Wilkinson 14

21 Lee Holmes      :      Danny Jackman 23

9 Sam Parkin      :      Jon Daly 16

5 Jamie Slabber      :      Chris Armstrong 11

18 Alan Reeves      :      Neil Cutler 1

10 Stefani Miglioranzi      :      Michael Raynes 25

17 Brian Howard      :      Damien Allen 30

8 Rory Fallon      :      Richard Lambert 10

20 Steve Book      :      Stuart Barlow

i think we are going to lose again today. doesnt sound like we have been very dangerous so far and stockport will be more up for the game than us. i thought howard may get a start today as being dropped for a few games has probably given his a sufficient kick up the ass to make him give 100% and not slack as it looked like he had been doing in some of his recent performances
