I think its a growing up thing.....the spaceless sonicyouth, has a snappy rapidity about its pronounciation, redolent of teenage years.

 The spaced sonic youth, allows a pause for breath, needed by the wheezing smoker, and suggestive of a slowing down in lifestyle pace.
