I love The Clash.

Anyway, pretty simple - this will be the definitive thetownend.com poll on the situation so place your bets please. If you're unsure, then make your bloody mind up.

Personally, I've reached the end of my tether - the problems that have persisted through his reign show no signs of going away anytime soon and King seems blind to these shortcomings. The relationship between him, the fans and the players is getting worse and reaching the sort of level it was back in those dark days of 2002. Ultimately, I have no confidence left in him as the right person to get us out of this division and I think a change would freshen things up and unite the fans behind the cause once more. Of course, this is a gamble but I see no valid reason not to take it anymore.

Please state how you vote and your reasons why please!

Just think of the alternatives, who else do you think we're going to get with the finances we've got. A manager who can find good players on the cheap is essential ergo King must stay.

5 all come on King In! You knows it makes sense.

To be honest Ben, King's got a fairly good record of finding good players on the cheap(ish) but so do quite a lot of managers at this level. Honestly, the only player in our team who would walk into any other team in this division is Parkin. The rest are overrated by us.

Think of all those loan players, Holmes is the latest in a long line, Henderson, Ifil was hugely important last year whether or not he's lived up to that this year. Milner too I mean I could go on.

Then you've got bargain buys like O'Hanlon. I'd really rather not have someone like reeves in charge who's never even bought a player before.

Out...

Just about.  Although I don't want to see him fuck up for the sake of getting rid.  I really hope the bald tit turns it around, sneaks into the play offs, attendances increase a couple of thousand and he proves us all wrong.

But sadly I don't think it's going to happen.

Start of the season I said that given the downer of pre-season a top 10 would be disappointing but acceptable.  I can’t really see that happening after the past couple of months so it’s got to be out.

There is a comment (I think on the adver) where a lad says he spoke to Steve Robinson after the match last night.  It seems a very genuine post.  Not one of your rumour spinning yarns that you tend to see.  He said that Turbo apologised for the display and when asked did he like playing for King he came straight out and said no.

Perhaps understandable given Turbos recent itchy feet.   Sadly though it indicates that King is losing one of his strongest assets, the player’s backing.

Recent money problems aside now would be an opportune moment to bring a new man in.  Expectation is not there and position would allow scope for a period of experimentation and assessment without the imminent danger of the season really going belly up.

The argument that we wouldn’t be able to attract anyone of a better calibre doesn’t wash anymore.  There are unemployed astute managers out of there with a track record of promotion at this level, working on shoe string budgets and could quite realistically be sounded out for the position.

For the sake of avoiding a nasty backlash, my sanity, the players and the club it has to be adios senor King.

Expectation is always there with Swindon. Makes us a very difficult club to manage, a huge challenge for any manager.

I don't think there's any expectation left though.

Out.

I have been to 29 games, seen 13 losses.  Other than last season, which was good, but not fantastic, our form has been patchy, inconsistent, and irritating.  I am sick of watching games where the crowd can spot the flaws of King's tactics, yet the man with his finger on the button can't.

i want him to go, i really do. Simple fact is we'd be swapping him for a manager of the same calibre. Maybe a new manager would freshen things up but i don't even think that can be considered til the end of the season. I'd prefer the whole structure to change - king as director of football, with a proper coach coming in instead of walsh. Conclusion? King In for the meantime

There definitely is still expectation. We were still expected to ease into the ldv final and anything less is seen as a huge failure and we're expected to win games like brentford away easily even though they are above us in the table.

Short term expectation, maybe, but long term? I don't think I've seen the fans so low for a long time.

Nooo not a director of football.

Especially not King, he'd be like David Pleat at Spurs only on speed.  We can’t afford a chief exec so a director of football is a little unlikely.  Even so it’s a continental position that has not lent itself to the English game.

Pleat and Martin Jol being prime examples of directors that have meddled and seen managers eventually walked.  Even good old Dave Bassett at Leicester was not exactly a success.
