Will the inevitable two defeats and relegation see Iffy get the chop?

A bad away result at Shitty and I can see the pressure seriously being switched on at the Huddersfield game for some sort of reaction from the board as well as a change in gaffer.

I’m surprised that we haven't herd the vote of confidence yet although that could speak volumes about how secure the position is or on the other hand could it lead to a quick circumcision similar to Walsall when the drop finally occurs?

Interesting to see if Mark Devlin would have gone down the same route in appointing a successor to Andy King.

When he returned to the club the decision was already made and I guess beyond any input he may have had in hiring the new man.  I suspect and would like to think that he’d have argued the case against the cheap option of Iffy although where he would stand on a replacement at this stage or the end of the season is anyone’s guess.

Personally the next couple of games are the yard stick for me.  Pressure is off, realistically we have blown our own chances of staying up and you’d expect some sort of improvement in performance.  Should we roll over and die like a wet dog then I’d be seriously torn about sticking with Iffy.  Cracking bloke but cracking blokes don’t get the job one.  Is Iffy's form any better than that which saw the dismissal of King?  Arguably, if any it’s marginal and with the limited resources available no long term improvement (over the season) has been forthcoming under Iffy.

Question is with the resources available this season was narrowly avoiding relegation the objective or as I’d perhaps suspect even with the limited resources there was an expectation of mid-table consolidation from the board?

How much do the board now see relegation as a failure any how much did they see Iffy on a hiding to nowhere when he took over?

Leads on to next season what resources will the gaffer have at his disposal in League Two and what are the board’s ambitions?   It sounds terrible but if inevitably the playing budget is cut or even remains the same for that matter I think sacking Iffy is as pointless as appointing the next man, unless it’s Paolo Daniels.

If and it’s an unlikely ‘if’ we go down badly as expected and there is a degree of speculative investment available to strengthen the side and I’m not just talking about replacing departures then and only then would I like to see a new man at the helm and even then it would have to be a significant appointment not another bargain bucket and spade manager appointed on the basis of cost and cost alone.

the board have a very tough decision to make. if we do lose the last two games i think they will consider bringing in a new manager or somebody to work with Iffy (e.g. director of football) but i have to say that with our board you just dont know. lets see what happens

I certainly wouldn't want Iffy to have no involvement whatsoever as hes done a lot for us with the youths etc. that he probably doesn't get enough credit for.  Some of the youth teamers haven't done badly on debuts this season so hes obviously done something right somewhere.

This post is crap, i have every faith Iffy will bring in a good bunch of players and they'll do well in league 2 and will hopefully go up to league 1 again.

With what though?

We haven't got half a pence to rub it's self off let alone two to rub each other up.

Optimism aside I think realistically we’ve been buried for a while and I just can’t see how with the players we keep on such a tight budget bar investment not just Iffy, anyone could build a squad that’s not going to struggle next season.

Effectively with loan players and youngsters from clubs dropping out of the Premiership and Championship we’ll be right at the back of the queue in League two.

Looking at how limited funds have been this year without even having the advantage of being able to offer League one football what sort of quality can we expect next season?

It is very unfair to expect me to comment on Iffy's position publicly, before our planned end of season meeting. In my opinion we made very good progress under his management, until the wheels came off at the Rotherham game and since then, with a couple of exceptions, things have not gone well. Iffy took over in difficult circumstances, and has not shirked from the challenge. That said I understand your comment about experience, and this will all be discussed very soon after the season ends.

Guaranteed to last the season then and I don’t think you can say fairer than that.  Iffy deserves the chance to try and pull off that miracle even though the safe money is set on our fate being sealed and sent down to the bargain basement.[/quote]
