each current legal immigrant pays £7,203 in tax on average, compared to £6,861 for non-migrants.
the ignorants can moan all they like with their daily mail opinions, but its a fact that this country would be fucked without immigrants, who have for the past few decades kept our economy afloat. yes, the state has to shell out for a system and associated benefits to deal with them, and yes, just like anything else some people cheat the system (personally i have more of a problem with benefit families and those on the dole but doing nowt about it than Tariq coming over here from france because he knows he'll get better treatment here - that's a fault bought on by our own systems and not any fault of the immigrants) but overall i think we're much better off.

Immigrants are also going to be imortant in supporting the strain on our health and pension services which our going to get worse as the population ages. Younger immagrents are going to be important contributors to the economy.

Where does the £1bn p/a tax figure come from?
That must just be VAT sureley as they wont be paying income tax/ national insurance etc?
I think the solution here is to shoot a load of old people then send all the immigrants home

I think the solution here is to shoot a load of old people then send all the immigrants home the £1bn is what the govt would get if all of the currently illegal immigrants were legal. they'd be paying tax contributions like the rest of us. These are legal immigrants, Pie. Illegal ones should be deported, but legal are cool. i got my figures from todays indipendent, which is making the point that if our system was improved, there would be a smaller proportion of illegal immigrants (by making them legal) and significant revenue benefits. deportation is not really any kind of solution to the problem, its just moving them about and they'll only come back again. |

that's absurd considering the vast majority of the population are not immigrants, if the percentage of crime committed solely by immigrants was so high then it would mean that white british born and bred people never broke the law.
