Not really, no. I don't live with my mum and haven't done for years, so your "picking up after you" arguement doesn't really stand up.

I've not lived at home for 20 years, so no one picks up after me either. I do however have a memory.

I've also got kids, which I suppose helps to give me a slightly different perspective about what sacrifices you make as a parent.

Don't worry I was a complete fucking ingrate when I was younger as well.

You'll appreciate your parents when your older I expect. Just make sure you get it right before it's too late, or believe me you'll regret it. No-one lives forever you know.

There might be- and are- different circumstances though. Perhaps you're not an ingrate but you're still fucking ignorant enough to assume I'm obliged to shower my mother with gifts. Well I'm not. You don't know me, my family or my history. You have no right to tell me how to treat my parents. Now do one and fuck off.

I forgot. She'll be cooking a nice roast dinner, and getting fuck all in return. Excellent.

How the fuck do you forget? You can't actually go into a shop without seeing posters for about a fucking month before. You're obviously online. 3 and a half minutes on the Interflora website, £50 (£20 if you're a tightarse or a student) and whallop you're done.

It's not much to ask for lifetime of wiping your arse and picking up after you really is it?

Hello, Lumpy. I forgot, as i thought it was next week. anywho, i gave her a card with some cash in it, with some last minute flowers. My drunken ramblings on here last night were obviously hollow and meaningless.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this matter though,

Your friendly neighbourhood Blackcurrant.

Sorry. This was just my slightly meoldramatic "Try to appreciate people while they're around" rant. I can see it came off a bit patronising, but it was heartfelt.

Obviously it is personal. And obviously I realise that people live in different situations to me, have different relationships with their family and all that.

You can probably gather that I lost a parent a few years ago. It was after a long illness which gave us chance to get back onto good terms. But not everyone gets that. That's all.

Didn't mean to fuck you off DMR.
