.....as we speak is playing for Linfield against Derry City in the Setanta Sports Cup. He appears to be their main man in heart of the midfield. I don't know what the deal is with Derry, they've been playing in the FAI for years as there was too much of a security risk with them playing teams from the north. I will have to check that out.
Any way, I just thought I would share that with you.
Latest score, 1-1.

McAreavey.....would have to be a leading contender along with Edwin Murray for the best only league goal scored by an STFC player.
McAreavey scoring v Oldham on a wet and windswept, after a dribble one two and clinical finish.
Other contenders springing to mind....Domenic Foley v Brishole Shitty....Colin Heath v Yeovil ....Marlon Broomes v Brum.....Mike Graham v Wimbledon?
Shaun Close v Scum......David Kerslake v Scum......feel free to add contenders.

On his debut too wasnt it? He was shight, no idea what happened to him, but when he came he was supposed to be getting match sharpness for the WC. Had a bit more of a think about this and other notable contenders for best only goal for STFC....would have to include Glenn Cockerill v Gillingham in 80......Roy Wegerle v Bradford City around 88/89....Tony Grant v Hull? 95/96....Brian Marwood diving header from Osman's miskick v Shitty in 93. Even Tony Thorpe could get on this list.

Latest score, 1-1. Always thought it was amusing that he signed for Linfield seeing as Linfiled are a big proddy team and Macca is a huge celtic fan. Pleased to see him doing well though.

Marlon Broomes v Brum..... one of the best goals i've ever seen at the CG! what about gary elkins goal against sheffield united in the late 90's (cant remember what season), wasn't that from about 20-30 yards or am i imagining things? david holdsworth scored an ace own goal in that game too.
