However, when I've gone to renew the insurance, it's up to £1.6k.
Never renew directly or immediately anyway, here's my case:
About four years back Endsleigh quoted £800 for insurance renewal. I checked with Directline (the easiest website) and they quoted £650. I then phoned Endsleigh and said "I've had another quote from Direct Line for £610 but I'd like to stay at Endsleigh, can you beat it?"....."Hmmmm..........£607?" said Endsleigh, "fine" said I.
The next year, Endsleigh quoted £780 (despite another years no claims), this time I didn't bother checking with Direct Line and just said
NR - "I've been offered it for £540 through DL and I'm thinking of moving to them"......
Endsleigh - "Hmmmmmm......if I could offer you a better quote would you stay"........"Maybe" said I.
Endsleigh - "I can't beat it, but I can do you £561 plus a guaranteed courtsey car" - "Done" said NR.
Whatever they quote you for a renewal, just say you've had a better quote - but keep it sensible (about 10% less per year based on another years no claims)
Never listen to that "This offer is only valid today" shit either - chances are it is cheaper tomorrow.
It winds me up :x - insurance companies get away with millions stuffed in their pockets every year and we suffer - be smart and do them at their own game
