Finish Uni in two weeks. Started in 2008, no idea where the time has gone. Not looking forward to the real world. Not one bit
I left Bath 10 years ago next month. Its amazing getting your first job and then realising you have less money to spend on beer than you had as a student, have less time to drink beer than you did as a student and have no idea whats happening on day time TV.

I agree, I don't like the idea of proms far too American and forced on kids by crap US tv.
But TBF she has just passed 5 of her course work exams with A* grades and is on course for 3 other A to A* grades and it is something she is looking forward to so its kind of a reward for working that hard and excelling at her grades when she was expected to get B's. Luckily her father has paid for half of it and she has contributed half of the rest with part time work but its still an expense that should not be almost forced on a parent.
Our daughter is spending the least amount on her prom in her class of 24 with one girl spending over £800 on just her dress and another £350 on a stretch Hummer and an £80 haircut, which is totally pathetic but her parents can easily afford it so I guess its no hardship for them.
But no it should not be "expected" at all but there is a massive peer pressure on them as teenagers now for Proms/leavers.

Nobody HAS to foot the bill do they? Just tell her to fucking do one, she's 16 she probably hates her parents anyway why fight it?
And no she doesn't hate her parents at all she doesn't HATE anyone. Losing her real mum to cancer at the age of 7 changes how you view your step parent and family and you appreciate them much more than most teenagers do.

Fair play JJ. Sounds like she has done exceptionally well, and you are clearly very proud of her.

TBF she has done brilliantly and I can't begrudge her it, she does deserve it, like Dell's daughter (I think it was Dell) she is off doing part time modelling as well this year to fund her eventual University degree in fashion design. Fair play to her I say, get designing and support your old step dad and mum!

Congrats Arriba.
On a personal note I'm getting married Friday to some bird who doesn't post on here any more.
I blame Dazzza for starting this whole fucking thing...
Have a great day, you two.

Had my 'prom' last year, we got a taxi there, left half way through to grab some pizza and go to the pub. Went back again when everyone still at the prom finally got to the level we were at and fucked off to Suju. Left there with a bird in tow so I'm all for proms personally
