We dived with Mantas and Turtles in Tofo. On the way to the dive site one time we saw a shadow under the water and it was a whale shark - 7 or 8 metres long. We got snorkels on and swam alongside it. One of the most amazing things I've ever done. Check out these guys (http://www.divingtofo.com). Also got a course in at Sodwana Bay with these guys (http://www.coraldivers.co.za/)

We booked our A380 flight to Jo'burg today, leaving on June 28. We plan on going to Kruger national park first and would be grateful of any tips on where to stay or how to travel around?. Has anyone been there and have some do's and dont's? Obviously we want to see the big 5.

Cheers for the diving link Iffy. Im getting a bit desperate to find a whale shark now, this seems to be a great oppertunity.

After this we will make our way south towards Plettenburg bay where there seems to be lots of action and fun.

Sounds fantastic....very envious as I love S Africa....if you are interested in its history, then a trip to the Voortrekkers' Monument at Pretoria is worth half a day; and KwaZulu Natal is really interesting (Zulu Wars etc) - Pietermaritzburg is interesting, Drakensburg Mts magnificent, and the beaches in Durban superb.... but can't help re: Kruger. Never been there.

I assume that was either sarcastic or you've never watched Nightmare on Elm Street and didn't get the (Freddy) Kru(e)ger/ nursery rhyme reference Smiley

Either way I'm sure that Kruger national park will be great.
