I'm protesting for two reasons:
1) To show my disgust that the club has been financially run into the ground to the extent that our survival is on the line.
2) To demand that the current board sell up and leave with as much speed as is possible.

I sure there will be hundreds of people who feel the same way and will want to make these 2 simple points.

That makes sense.

My interpretation is that the thinking behind the protests is muddled and unclear however I'd be persuaded otherwise by a rational and logical argument in favour of protesting.

Perhaps someone who went to Monday's meeting could provide this?

Is your middle name Provocative?

The rational and logical argument is that protesting puts pressure on the board to sell up as fast as possible and to get out.

Or is that too muddled and unclear for you?

But isn't that what they're trying to do already with or without protests? I don't think they want to be in charge any more than we want them there. Protests aren't going to magic up buyers.

Sorry for being controversial - I'm just looking for info.

No they want someone to pay about 10 million for a majority share, so they can stick around. Then probably steal off the new owners, just like they stole from Bill Power last time they had an arrangement like this. Anything that weakens their position (something like protests) will lower the asking price, thus making it more likely that someone will come in.

I want to see them gone. Full stop. Forever. But Diamandis has an unhealthy obsession with keeping control because a) he's made a lot of money out of STFC. b) he hasnt done it legitamately and some things will come back to haunt him if they get out.

Thanks for wasting my time. Now go back to sleep please.

So the point of the protests is to reduce the value of our club so that new buyers emerge at that price level?

The value of the club is nothing. We have no real assets and it now appears we are 11 million in debt. We also need instant payment of the CVA.

The idea is perhaps to get them to lower the asking price. But also make them see that they do not have a future at the club.

It's time to crank up the pressure. We've got them on the ropes. Let's finish this for good.

An independent valuation would be interesting. Clearly there is some value hence the interest from BEST and A.N.Other as announced today (assuming it's genuine)

the value of the club is based on building a new ground Best was bleeting on about it after saying it wasn't a priority. its the only avenue of generating  revenue to pay the debts lets face it the current board have burnt all their bridges with the council on ground building so are now screwed after the debts have built up.

Si Pi made the point in a different thread that the timing of the board statement is anything but a coincidence.  The fact that the protest plans are all over the press means the credibility of the protests are on the line.  The board are betting that another hollow promise of investors will put a large percentage off, cynically playing on fans emotions who don't want to risk any deal that could save us.  As fans, we need to make sure there are hundreds and hundreds out there protesting or those cunts will have a field day and know they can con most people whenever the hell they feel like it

Agree. Don't make it 3rd time lucky for the board.

Another few things I'd like to say.

Firstly, the if protests were that detrimental to any investor opportunity then why wasn't the statement released BEFORE yesterday. It must have been clear for at least the past week or two that the BEST Holdings deal was a dead duck.

Secondly they're trying anything possible to remove the power from the protests. It seems Paul Sturrock has even told Shaun Hodgetts that he doesn't mind if we protest after the game but not before (saw it on bbc news).

Two points:

*They know that less people will be able to see protesting after the game behind the Arkells than somewhere else before the game.

*They've played the Paul Sturrock - we know you don't want to hurt the team card.

This is their last throw of the dice surely? How many more statements do people want to endure? BBC won't point their cameras at us for long, especially if we're doing nothing. Come another two months down the line when another deal falls through (if it does exist) people will probably want to protest again. If we don't pour our hearts and souls into this now then BBC/ITV won't give us any air time because they won't want to waste their time second time round.

We should strike whilst the iron's hot. Swallow this bullshit and you're a fool.

Fucking spot on, there were 60 odd comments at the bottom of the adver article online last time i looked, there were a few in the gullibla club, one in the 'I hate P Davis' club and the majority were in the 'Fuck off, i'm not getting sucked in again' club. Leads me to believe that a good number will still make themselves heard if the message we are trying to give out remains consistent.

The board are feeling the pressure and we need to keep it up.
