That's partly because a majority of our fans don't like players who can pass the ball to their own team.
They want us to play route one, get it in the box at every opportunity and when that doesn't work we can moan & bitch about our players not trying hard enough.

FWIW, I thought we played pretty well, but the finishing was piss poor.
Other than the OTJ free kick their keeper didn't have to do anything spectacular. Sure, he was solid & did what he had too well, but he didn't need to be that great.

Couldn't believe that people boo'ed the team off at the end.
I know it wasn't the result we wanted, but the performance was much better than the one against Crewe.

Totally spot on!

That also applies to Timlin as well.  He can have his shocking games, but at least he takes some responsibility, puts his foot on the ball and tries to pick out a pass instead of hoofing it up to our two strikers that have done very well as a pair this season but are not exactly the best in the air.  Even Paynter who is the big man of the two does not win enough headers for his size.

I think Batch summed it up very well.... everybody has a go at Timlin and OTJ but if they were not there we would soooooo notice it.  They stand up to the responsibility of putting their foot on the ball and therefore stand up to the abuse when it goes wrong.  Trust me it is easy to play the long ball everytime and let the player on the other end take the flack because they have a first touch of a rapist!

Would you rather have Easton and Peacock, or Timlin and OTJ?  I know which ones I would choose!

the two chances that hit the woodwork on another day could have gone in
2-1 and we would have been happy and saying how we dominated the game.
on reflection we deserved more but how many times this season has that been the case.

I'd like to see Peacock and a temporal quantum Peacock clone fight it out in a centre circle arena. This could end in three ways:
1) Two bloodied de-limbed Pacocks, both of which will get their insurance pay off and retire from football
2) Both instantly vanishing in a matter anti-matter reaction, creating a mini ball of pure energy which would float off to explore parallel universes using a double peacock energy conciousness as it's guide.
3) Universe ends.

Worth the risk.

Well the first 2 are, don't know about the 3rd!

And we are joyous for that, but you can do us another big favour by beating Northampton on saturday please.

now that we are mathematically safe, we could take our foot off the gas and play untried yoof teamers. but i dnt think GW would let that happen (AND WE COULD STILL END UP IN THE TOP HALF OF THE TABLE Cheesy) so yes, that could be arranged.....................

Just watched the highlights on the Virgin website. They showed two of our crosses which were easily dealt with by the defence, yet failed to include us hitting the bar and post. Where's the logic in that?!

They are secretly town supporters, obviously don't want to show the world how good we actually are - the mackling effort was awful, but still made highlights, that is woeful.

No, he had 20 minutes!!  For fuck's sake, he's 17 and a good prospect, unfortunately it didn't work out for him on Saturday, but there were some good touches (and some poor ones).

Yes he did. Just because he's 17 is no reason to hide it.

That's a lot different to saying he's awful. I think he will come good. We need the pace down the wings as we have missed it since Roberts retired.

I think my point about the highlights has caused a few issues abut macklin - the highlights showing his shot and not alot else wasn't me saying he was awful, just that i believe the highlights were wrong showing that and nothing else from the game,i personally felt paynter hitting the bar and cox hitting the post were better highlights to be showing. The lad has pace on the wings, which is what i like to see. in time i hope he will come good and the nerves will have been got ridden of. next season, if we dont have kanu, i think him and macca will play vital roles in the team in the type of play wilson wants to play.

and i quite like his boots too Grin

Pace frightens defences and we havent got any apart from a few short bursts from Cox......and he cannot pass to himself!
