Post by: horlock07 on Friday, May 10, 2019, 12:57:20

Nigel Quashie must be one of them? Pompey and West Brom twice I think, so three total.

I think Richard Stearman may be one?

John Burridge? He played for any number of bottom-end clubs.

Being premier league I have no clue TBH but it must be a player who has played for several of the yoyo clubs like WBA, Swansea, Reading, Watford, Cardiff, Norwich etc.

Neither player has ever been relegated with any of those clubs.....

Dammit, I'm pretty sure one is a centre back that got relegated with Wolves and other clubs, but for the life of me I can't think who it is.

I think the one I am thinking of played for Wolves, West Ham and Pompey, maybe Southampton as well.

Do loans count, or just contracted players?

One of them is a centre half, however he has never been relegated with Wolves.

Nah, scrap that.

The mention of Palace. Herman Hriderasson (horribly miss-spelled I expect)

Palace, Wimbledon(?) Ipswich, Charlton, Portsmouth

Correct, relegated with every Premier League club he has played for:
Crystal Palace (1997–98 season),
Wimbledon (1999–2000),
Ipswich Town (2001–02),
Charlton Athletic (2006–07), and
Portsmouth (2009–10).

PS Please don't Wiki him as it gives you the answer of the other one there!

Okay, so we have no clues on the other guy, everything above seems to have related to HH? Other than knowing we need five relegations.

What about Kevin Philips? Played a lot at the lower end of the Prem, must have been relegated a few times for sure.

Its not Phillips, but it is a striker....

I wonder if it's come up because it's someone from this year? I don't think he's on five but I think Junior Hoilett might now have 3-4 between Cardiff, QPR and Blackburn.

Alfie Mawson has done two seasons in succession too I think.

Rob Green was shit and got a few relegations in his time.

If its in the last 5 or 6 years though I have no chance!

Retired c.2006 and subsequently won a best supporting actor award......

I’m pretty certain I know who it is. He got relegated the same season we did I believe.

I will leave the game open though.
Used to do loads of these type of questions for my staff on a Friday.

Strikers who didn’t score 20 goals a season, obviously

The answer to your question....

The answer to your question....

I have no idea about Ashley Ward (and being a pedant it is not the answer to the question posed anyway), however the second one is correct in that Nathan Blake was the other one who has been relegated 5 times,

1993–94 at Sheffield United,
twice for Bolton Wanderers in 1995–96 and 1997–98,
in the following season for Blackburn Rovers
and in the 2003–04 season while at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Cannot confirm whether he ever scored 20 goals in a season though.

I was responding to BO's offer of Ashley Ward.... when this question was posed some years ago, the answer was indeed Ward and Blake, but times change.

It was 50% correct.

So the answer now is Herman and Blake.

Earnshaw, is something like who is the only player to score a hat trick in all Divs + LC FA cup and an international game?

Haven't read through comments or googled.

Both Bolton and Sheff Utd were yoyo clubs in the incarnation of the Prem. Bolton especially. So a long serving player maybe. I'd go for John McGinlay with Bolton & possibly Nathan Blake with Sheffield United.
