Title: Pickled onions
Post by: Flashheart on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, 15:52:56
I like the small strong ones best, strong enough to make your eyes water. Closely followed buy those little red ones you get in curry houses.

I have to keep mine out of sight from myself cos whenever I see the jar, I just can't resist.

I'm a fan of pickled shallots with stilton in a crusty roll...

Pickled onions are an integral part of my ex-pat survival kit, along with sandwich spread, extra-mature cheddar, wine gums and digestives.

I remember back in the day, people used to come round pubs on weekend evenings selling pickled cockes and the like.
Not seen that for years.

Pickled eggs with a packet of crisps. The blunsdon market do a large jar for about £6, well they were last December. Would recommend.

I pickle a couple of jars every year around September for Christmas, can't play the waiting game though and by the end of November I have very few left. Good idea about adding a chilli of two.

I was tempted to steal an egg earlier but I think the wife has counted them

I pickled some eggs last year, but fucked it up, didn't boil the eggs for long enough. the husband of my girlfriend's half-sister does some mean chilli pickling, currently got some of his pickled onions sat in my kitchen, they pack a hell of a punch!
