Town complete double signing
           

  PAOLO Di Canio has today completed his first signings as Swindon Town manager with the capture of Joe Devera and Jonathan Smith.

 Good news....just the sort of thing we need. I wonder if they're signed up to the tweeting agent, because I can't see how di Canio would know about them.

Both of them come highly thought of from their respective clubs. Although Smith sounds as if he is good for a few bookings he also chips in with a few goals and Devera is Barnets player of the season...perfect replacements for Prutton and Cuthbert in my eyes.

Funny you say that but i heard yesterday that Ken Ryder no longer works for the club.

No longer works for the club as far as I know....it's very common in Div 4 just to use agents and scouting agencies.

He was here in May, and had already compiled a list.

Even if he has left the club, the list he compiled should still belong to us.

Wasn't Ryder the scout Wilson bought in to scout players from all over the world?

i'm more and more optimistic by the day.so much so that i will be lumping on us winning the league.

And hopefully another new international country for the club to add with Devera and Venezuela!!

That would be exciting, other than missing loads of games for the Copa America.

I'm sure there must be lots, but the only famous Venezualan I can think of is Carlos the Jackal.

Well done, exactly the sort of signings we should be making. Transfer fees of less than £50k for young players who have played plenty of first team games in the lower leagues.

Still worried about us getting strikers though.

Ryder was brought in by Fitton and Watkins as head of scouting, but that just means that he gets various scout reports (available to lots of clubs) and sorts through them and then scouts himself the best of the bunch.

He is still with the club at the moment.

Another thing I like about this double signing is that it was done before anyone knew anything about it. No leaks or anyone stringing things out.

Had hoped we might buy someone from a higher level but suppose this is what we must expect now we are down there. No way DiCanio had a clue who these guys are perhaps his input will come with the choice of goal scorers. Important that we get this right.

Both names were mentioned over the weekend :)

Ive heard huddersfield have hijacked both deals.  They've deicded they have enough forwards with the 27 on their books at the moment and now want some other players.

When's Christian Vieri Joining then? That's what I'm looking forward to.

I reckon the big name signing is gonna be a trick.

The club tweeted earlier that it's not on the OS because the deals haven't been completed yet!

I think the selling clubs might disagree with that.

Barnet didn't even realise Devera had agreed to sign for us.

Maybe they were hoping to unveil these two along with a couple of players with higher reputations.
