Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: SuggWillSugg MBE on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 23:09:02 Hope it's true, but it isn't the most comprehensible article ever is it?
Then again it is in the sun.. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: mrverve on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 23:11:26 So many twist and turns, bloody hell.
Prefer Hamann over Di Canio I have to say. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: china red on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 23:23:51 Personally just want it over so that the new manager can start planning for next season.
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Kinky Tom on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, 23:24:43 just please be true
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 00:18:59 Fuck yeah. I now don't have to quit everything STFC related. Unless it's not true...
I imagine that even if Di Canio was a/the front runner, then the recent agent press releases would have probably pissed off our lovely stable and sexy board. I know Charlie's antics didn't impress them, and it's much the same old much much, although on a bigger level. HaHa Austin you fucking child. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: red_army on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 05:33:29 just please be true Adver are running a story that it will be PDC unveiled as new manager - Leicester boss has suggested no approach has been made from/to Hamann...... Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: herthab on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 05:43:29 Although PDC would generate huge excitement among many, Hamann is my preference and the one candidate, I feel, that would have the least dissenters.
Of course there's a risk involved in appointing an untried manager, but most of our success, historically, has come from giving big name ex-players their first taste of management. If it is Hamann, I'd be very happy. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: nevillew on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 06:05:08 Who to believe? Dan the Fan or the Sun? Jesus. What a choice. I'd believe Jesus, out of those three. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Huwwy on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 06:10:19 I'd belive Jesus, out of those three. I wouldn't. He told all his mates that Judas was a top bloke and look at how that all turned out for him!Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 06:29:14 Of course there's a risk involved in appointing an untried manager, but most of our success, historically, has come from giving big name ex-players their first taste of management. If it is Hamann, I'd be very happy. There's a risk with any manager in that there's no way of knowing how they will do. We started last season with a manager who had 800+ games under his belt and we all know how that turned out. I too would be very happy with Hamman though. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Batch on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 06:39:25 The Sun say Hamann.
The Adver say Di Canio. Who knows. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Luci on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 06:56:14 The Sun say Hamann. The Adver say Di Canio. Who knows. Least one thing is consistent in the fact they are both shoddy at reporting anything remotely accurate Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: LucienSanchez on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 07:00:41 The Sun say Hamann. The Adver say Di Canio. Who knows. Burley it is then... Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: pauld on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 07:07:59 I'd believe Jesus, out of those three. I'd have him as manager. He could work miracles. With DV as No 2 obviously, for the infallibility aspectTitle: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: wheretherealredsare on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 08:30:51 We could ask him what the"H" is for.
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: juddie on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:06:41 The Sun has written a story with no quotes, therefore it has no foundation. The Adver are also reporting what they know, which is not a lot.
don't shoot the messengers, they HAVE to write something but the club are giving nothing away. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:11:08 I understand that Juddie but to be fair mate you rightly were shooting down people for saying things as a matter of fact last night. The Adver have been doing the exact same thing.
They have said about Hamaan for example being in the 3 and now today saying they don't think he is? Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:14:57 If not Hamann.....
This means we still don't know who the mystery candidate is. Although if it wasn't him, I'd have thought we would have had a more solid denial by now. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: juddie on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:15:11 haven't seen the Adver story but yeah, that's poor if true.
Continued speculation, thought and rumour is all good, funny etc... but people writing these as fact is poor show. You can see the adver's problem though, their readership demands something, and they have nothing! Title: Re: Hamann coming... Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:20:57 Thing is i want to be patient but what i don't understand at all is why we are now waiting? I don't get the whole i would rather wait and get the right candidate argument either.
We did not activly search for a manager we invited applications and then closed date,we interviewed them and seemingly have a prefered 3 that the board discussed on tuesday. If as the club have said themselves these people applied for the job themselves that suggests they obviously all want the job so can't see what is left to thrash out. My personal opinion and it's just a guess is that we are waiting to see what happens with Torquay hoping they don't go through to the final. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: juddie on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:24:44 it could be anything.
You're right, could be Buckle. We all thought he was out of the running, but he suggested he fancies a move. It could also be that the club are agreeing terms with LCFC, if it's Hamann, or the club could be sorting terms for the right candidate's no.2... the club wouldn't wait for no reason. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: juddie on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:25:51 I'm pretty certain the board aren't just sitting there faffing about!
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:30:35 I'm pretty certain the board aren't just sitting there faffing about! I dunno juddie They are probably faffing about talking about the pro's and cons of the AV voting system and Kate Middleton's wedding dress. Doubt they are even aware of the vacant managers position. Or so some would have us believe anyway. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 09:35:28 I'm pretty certain the board aren't just sitting there faffing about! I think they are watching reruns of my left foot. It's obvious they are not sitting doing fuckall but it seems that something isn't right i am not having a pop at them i want them to take as long as they think they need buy hope they are not being fucked about by these candidates. They probably want Di Canio but he is titting around seeing what Brentford and fucking Barnsley are willing to offer. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: pauld on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 10:18:17 I'm pretty certain the board aren't just sitting there faffing about! I reckon they appointed the new manager Tuesday afternoon and they've spent since then locked away alternating between games of Scrabble, Hangman and the Australian Biscuit game, hooting with laughter at everyone's increasingly frantic efforts to interpret all the possible twists and turns. And even more at the Adver for using those efforts as copy.Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Luci on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 10:26:22 I didn't really think about the implications of a new manager. Its not only their contractual terms that need to be agreed but also those of their number two and any back room staff they may wish to bring - especially if that has an impact on the clubs current incumbents.
Guess all parties internally need to be aware of whats going to happen before us outsiders hear anything Title: Re: Hamann coming... Guess all parties internally need to be aware of whats going to happen before us outsiders hear anything Even when it is all agreed you got to get lawyers to draw up contracts, get the other parties lawyers to check them out and signed, back and forth. I'd suggest all that has happened is that "we will know who we want by Wednesday" from the club has been turned into "we will appoint a manager on Wednesday" by the press. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 11:43:49 I'm getting annoyed at myself trying to decide who I'd prefer.
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: pauld on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 11:45:15 I want someone who can teach cows to surf, ski and joyride. The cows near where I live are terribly dull
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Power to people on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 12:32:25 You wonder if the hold up has been they wanted Di Cannio but he was contracted to do his commentating last night on the UEFA cup so he was not available to hold final talks agree contracts, decide on No 2 until today.
I hope though that if it is PDC or DH they are asked t obring in an experrienced no 2. I don't also understand how the new manager can decide on existing player contracts if he has never seen them play and doesnt know them, what will he do watch endless amounts of DVD's of matches or purely draw straws Title: Re: Hamann coming... I suspect a man like him would have a telephone Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 12:50:10 If it's Buckle I will feel massively deflated.
Get PDC in now ! Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 12:52:24 Buckle would be good and show ambition still.
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 12:53:23 Buckle would be good and show ambition still. Not for me. PDC or Hamann. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 13:15:59 Buckle would be good and show ambition still. He's my first choice. Experience of League Two and non-League, should be able to bring in the players we need. Plus he's been successful, the stealing a young manager with a good record from a smaller club has worked well for others. Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Trashbat? on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 13:19:58 The adver comment board would go into meltdown if we appointed Buckle after being linked to Di Canio and Hamann
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 13:27:07 Buckle would be a top class appointment, but i doubt it's in the pipeline. In actual fact I'm reasonably happy with anyone that sounds like they've been seriously considered bar the bizarre mention of Rix
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: london_red on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 13:28:38 I would be amazed if Buckle was involved in an application process for another club whilst in the midst of a playoff campaign with Torquay
Can but hope though Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: suttonred on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 13:46:25 Cyber punch that stupid bastard wizard on the adver forum for us.....
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: The Frog on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 13:46:41 I would like to see Burley, But also think Hamman and Buckle would be good additions if we got them too, Dont want PDC just wouldn't work here and even in the off chance it did he would be gone within 6 months to a higher league club.
I know i'm new so no one cares what i think ;) Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 14:03:50 Good point
Title: Re: Hamann coming... Post by: stfctownenda on Thursday, May 19, 2011, 14:04:53 If it's Buckle I will feel massively deflated. Get PDC in now ! Yes me too why would we possibly give the managers job to Buckle a manager who has had success managing in the lower leagues, knows the players down there and knows what it takes to get teams promoted down there when we could give it to an ex pro with no experience in Di Canio, baffling to say the least what would be going through the boards mind if they came to such a reasoned decision! Title: Re: Hamann coming...
