Wednesday always bring a few, attendance will be 9000+ I would have thought. Looking through the remaining home matches after that, I'm not sure where the next 'high' gate is going to come from, as we have had most, if not all, of the bigger sides in League 1 here already. Performances on the pitch will have a big part to play in that, as it's not as though we have a Leeds or Norwich still to play in the second half of the season like last year, which brings many fans out of the woodwork.

I can't wait for this game, i work in Doncaster and one of the lads that works here is always giving it the good old" we are a big club, and too big for this division". Can't wait to reiterate, you are crap that is why you got relegated and just because of the gates you get does not make you a big club. Cunt.
Before anybody starts i am not coming down just for the big games. I have only missed out on the mid week games at home. I know part time supporter cunt. :bye:

Wouldn't worry about it. Nobody cares about being part time on here mate. Most people realise that life gets in the way, and if you don't let life get in the way sometimes then you need your priorities straightened out.

How do we classify a part timer support i have never understood that for example if you go 5-7 times in a season is that part time or is it choosing the games you go to?

Post by: Super Jan fjortoft on Friday, November 19, 2010, 13:58:17
cheers, i have a season ticket this season, but can't make the mid-week its just to far. Living up north most of my life i found it easier to go to the away games. Sheff wed and Huddersfiel are the closest this season. I hope Scunthorpe come down if we don't go up as i only live about 15 mins from the ground.
On another note the most entertaining/ frustrating game this season was P'boro away.

If you go (i reckon 4/5 a season) you are a fan. Anything else is a follower.

Its all relative really.

If you live in Swindon, dont work Saturdays and dont have regular family commitments and only go 5-7 times a season I'd class that as part time.

If you live miles away, using Doncaster as its already been mentioned here and make the effort to travel down to 5-7 home games a season (probably do a few 'local' away ones to) then i'd class that as a full time supporter.

As my previous post stated its not about the number of games you go to, its how much effort you put into attend.

Actually, scrap that - the official number is - 25.

You fail, plastic glory supporting part time prick!

I think that as long as when you do attend games you stay until the end. That's the mark of a real supporter.

The plastics are those cunts that leave before the final whistle.

Especially if they're ginger.

Anyone who goes to less games than you do = part-time/armchair/lightweight
Anyone who goes to more games than you do = nutter/obsessive/really needs to get some perspective

I've developed a scientific formula to determine if you're a part time fan:

Total mileage to all games in season/No. of games in season x disposable income per year/total cost of games in season

If your result is less than 4632 you're a part time fan. Hope that helps anyone who questions their own loyality.

Wednesday fan here in peace. Looking forward to visiting your groung this weekend. Does your pitch usually hold up in this weather as i know u don't have under soil heating. Do you think the game will go ahead and are the roads clear in Swindon??
We have sold 2500 plus tickets but Sheffield is heavily snowed in so a lot may not risk the journey, good luck for the rest of the season after u have played us.

Title: Re: Sheffield Wednesday 4th December

Title: Re: Sheffield Wednesday 4th December
Post by: Summerof69 on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 14:01:43
We had some snow but nowhere as near as other people round the country, but we've had it consistantly cold.

Last season's game against Stockport was postponed not due to a frozen pitch, but due to the conditions around the area for H&S purposes.

I personally think it's a 50/50 call. I think the club are doing their best trying for the game to go ahead.

Title: Re: Sheffield Wednesday 4th December
Post by: pauld on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 14:12:44
Probably depends more on overnight temps, ie whether the pitch is frozen, than levels of snowfall

Title: Re: Sheffield Wednesday 4th December
Post by: Abrahammer on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 17:29:10
It's definately best to do the inspection tomorrow rather than risk a late call off.

I'd be stunned if it goes ahead, imagine they will only give it the ok if the pitch and area around the CG are 100% ok which im guessing is unlikely.

Title: Re: Sheffield Wednesday 4th December
Post by: pauld on Thursday, December 2, 2010, 17:38:26
Even if we get the go-ahead tomorrow that's really only going to be a go-ahead for a Saturday morning pitch inspection.

I disagree, I think they will get it on.

We havnt even had much snow in this part of the country. The cold weather has started so early that what if we get another 5 or 6 borderline home fixtures? That would throw the season into chaos.

I'm sure they'll do everything they can to get the match on but if the pitch is unplayable its unplayable, its the referee who'll decide.

According to the metcheck web site Saturday should be a bit warmer but still not getting above freezing even during the day. If that's right I cant see the game being on, and Tuesday's has to be in serious doubt too.

It's odd, because BBC have their weather model going up to a tropical 5C  by lunchtime on Saturday. I guess it depends where the warm front ends up.

But they'll surely call it off today if the pitch is frozen.

It's a good job they don't do pitch inspections in the same way they select world cup venues - we'd wake up tomorrow only to find that having been promised the vote of the officials to go ahead they'd actually postponed it on Wednesday in favour of going shopping with some Russian Rouple's and Qatar Rial's

So 2 games in L1? Fair play to our ground staff. We've had a little help from the elements in the past 24 hours as well it has to be said.
