Title: Are we the underdogs?
Post by: medwayred on Sunday, May 23, 2010, 23:33:16
:hmmm:All the so called experts all say millwall will be to strong for the Town at Wembley. I say bollix. Was chatting to this pissed up twat of a millwall fan tonight at Waterloo and he says we will smash u like we did 2 weeks ago. Then I said well u had a pen an own goal and a deflection u won't be that lucky again. Fuckin cockney spastic

And we were shit that day, very long-ball and struggled to get our passing game going. If we pass it like we can, and get the ball wide on Wembleys mahoosive pitch we've got every chance, so long as Cuthbert and Lecs keep Morison and Cunty McCunt Harris quiet

There's not much in it but yes I would say we are "underdogs".

If we were playing Real Madrid, we'd be underdogs.  We're playing Millwall...and if they want to see us that way, that's their look out.

The best way you could go about predicting Saturday's result would be to flip a coin.  The team that goes up will be the one who plays to its strengths and gets a rub of the green.  All we can do is focus on the first of those, and hope the second looks after itself.

It is going to be a very close game between 2 pretty well matched sides, it could even come down to who makes the most defensive mistakes rather than individual pieces of skill.

I predict there will only be 1 goal in it, a 1-0 win or a 2-1 to either team, possibly with a Wembley sending off involved.

I dreamt last night that it was a superb 0-0 and went to pens. Can't see this myself, but don't think my heart would take it.

Dont go with this underdog crap. Away from the den Millwall's record aint fabulous.

Reckon it is more evenly matched that the pundits realise

I'd say we are underdogs due to the fact most people think Millwall will win, not because we are a worse team than them. If that makes sense...

That game 2 weeks ago means nothing, for starters our best defender (Cuthbert) didnt even play and Millwalls best player from that game (Greer) will be suspended.

Penalty and two own goals for fuck sake.

and Millwalls best player from that game (Greer) will be suspended.

Errrr, who?

Anyway, It'll come down to the day, and who plays better (obviously) but Millwall are 6/5 and Swindon are 12/5 for a reason. We would have easily got automatic if we didn't have one of the worst injury streaks I have ever seen in the first 1/3rd of the season.

Millwall are the far better side, but playoffs are always a lottery. Anything can happen.

As Holloway said before the game on sat "Id like to meet the person who calls us underdogs" and I agree, look at all the Playoff finals in recent years and the so called "underdogs" have won more times than not. It all goes out the window at Wembley, I think its' about who deals with the conditions and big occasion best. There are so many factors to consider than just previous form/results against one another.

And on paper, we are as good as them.

No, you're not. The table never lies. There is nothing between the two sides and crying about injuries early doors is like us crying about only having one decent striker until October.

On the day, if we get the ball down and wide, we've got as good a chance as you.

Hopefully Rob 'The Shep' Shepherd will be eating his twatty words in next weeks NOTW. Arse licking Millwall - "hopefully Millwall play Swindon off the park" nice and impartial...

As for that quizgy, Millwall fan.. Far better side?

Ah good. Another one.

You're a decent team, but if you took Austin and Paynter out you would do well to get mid-table.

Not really, as we have the best defence in the league as well. Ward is a better player than both Morison and Abdou. So is Robinson.

Title: Re: Are we the underdogs?
Post by: magicroundabout on Monday, May 24, 2010, 11:36:52
thats only because of your home form. wembley's a different playing field altogether.

and a pretty shit one at that

Not quite, Dave.

Morison I'll give you but Abdou hasn't been the player this season that he was last season.

As far as getting the ball down and playing........ on our day we're as good as, even better than, all of the teams in this division. We haven't got the best record against the top 6 for nothing.

Fuck knows what will happen on Saturday so all these predictions are worth three fifths of fuck all anyway.

Bring on the beer!!!!!

Title: Re: Are we the underdogs?
Post by: Bogus Dave on Monday, May 24, 2010, 11:38:24
Ok. Take Ward and Robinson out and you'd be a shit team. It doesn't matter regardless, it's a shit stupid argument. We have Austin and Paynter and we are where we are. Which is two points behind you after 46 games and in a cup final to get promotion

Title: Re: Are we the underdogs?
Post by: Nemo on Monday, May 24, 2010, 11:39:04
I'm not sure how much the horror show of a pitch will allow either side to get the ball down and play, much as I'd like to see it.

Title: Re: Are we the underdogs?
Post by: magicroundabout on Monday, May 24, 2010, 11:40:13
i can't see how wembley can be so much of a fuck up.

our ground has had the best part of 30 games played on it and looks in perfect condition. yet a national stadium which has had the best part of 10 games looks like a farmers field

That's because they keep on digging in up to relay a new one, and then don't give it enough time to bed down, before playing games on it.

Exactly, but they held concerts and other things at the old Wembley, yet the pitch really didn't suffer (except for '69 !!)

The old Wembley pitch used to be like a bowling green.

The current one looks like the local park!

After the play off matches, they should rip the pitch up and start again but this time let it grow a good length before cutting it. Just water it for the first week or so.

Swap all your players for Stockport's and you'd be a relegation side.

Top tips there. I'm sure no-one thought of watering the grass to help it grow before

Yeah, but if you took some of our players out of the team and didn't replace them with anybody we'd be mid table. Surely that gives Millwall the advantage?

We are the underdogs based on the bookies opinions and i suspect the majority of neutrals.

It doesnt matter in the slightest though.

Did we deliberately play long ball in that Millwall game? I'm wondering if Wilson changed things so he didn't show his cards? Everyone knew Leeds were going to win and Wilson knew we could face Millwall in the play-offs.

Long ball doesn't suit us so i hope we stick to our normal passing game on saturday as hoofing the ball up to Austin & Paynter doesn't work.

Just wondered as obviously we didn't get the ball down and play that day and did not play our best.

Millwall fans do seem very cocky and arrogant because they beat us that day but the fact is we scored a goal for them and gifted them a goal and their other one was deflected and anything could happen on Saturday.

We are definitely the underdogs, No-one fancies us and no-one is backing us to win, The media are all Millwall Millwall Millwall, They are clear favourites, I just hope there is a repeat of Saturday when the unfancied team and underdogs won.

The odds you state are for winning in 90 minutes.

Overall winners odds Millwall 1/2 Swindon 11/8, roughly the same odds offered for Cardiff v Blackpool.
