It was a fantastic cross but I'd quite happilly pass on Sheehan. He doesn't work with his winger, defensively he's no great shakes and his distribution is pretty poor. He takes a mean free kick near the box but hasn't put one in the net yet - Ian Harte he ain't.
I'm prepared to be slated but I'd rather JFL at LB. in fact, I'd rather pass on both and sign a new player but keep JFL as a squad player.

Funny how some people dont rate him, look at some of the shite we've had at left back the last decade, Duke, Nicholas, Vincent, Sheehan is a class above at worst than those 3.

He looked ok in his first game against Tranmere, but bar that Duke was better by far., and he wasn't very good, being polite and all that.

I think last night was his best performance since his injury.

I also think its unfair to call LJF a defensive liability at left back, then use a game where we kept a clean sheet and won 3-0 against the second best team in the league as an example.

Unfair?  Its about his  performance rather than result. He was the weak link in defence and we were lucky Leeds couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo in the first 30.

Quite like him at CB, problem is that Greer, Cuthbert and possibly Morrison are ahead of him.

He played well yesterday. Put in plenty of good crosses, including the one for Austin's goal.
Also passed well, and put a great through ball to Ward in the first half from which he nearly scored from.
He does have off games, but on the whole is an accomplished player and worth signing on a free, if only as back up.

If we go up we need two LBs, if we stay down we need one...there's absolutely no reason for us not to save ourselves a whole lot of time looking and just snap him up. He's happy here, plying in a good side with some of his boys from Leeds and Ireland so he's in.

I also think Sheehan is decent. I'm a bit puzzled as to why certain people think he's crap. It's like they're constantly looking for a weak link in the team even when there isn't one.

no idea how many set pieces he must have taken but i'd be interested to see his assists stats (free kicks/corners only) as I think it'd be similar to the myth that roberto carlos was a great free kick taker.....i can think of his corner v norwich but other than that i'm strugglin...in fact our corner taking generally bugs me as I know I get excited for no reason as we never look like scoring....shows how far we've come but there's better out there although would be a good squad player....

Would love to sign Sheehan. i sort of get the impression he is not all that interested about being here as he is very vague whenever asked about staying at Swindon. That said he is probably just leaving his options open. He is hopeful of a Championship club and has never made any secret of that fact You would think any Championship clubs would have "tried before they buyed" and took him on loan instead of him coming here so perhaps there is not much interest from CCC Clubs so his agent is just doing his job and sounding him out. The fact he came from Leeds United is good enough for some clubs alone to take a punt really.

With a bit of care and attention from Danny I reckon he could turn into a quality player (not Prem, but maybe Champ quality). JP hardly looked prolific when Danny first got here.

I think like most players, he wants to test himself at the highest possible level he can, but has nothing but great things to say about us.

I think he has a touch/kick of a Prem player, but his marking/pace not good enough.

Championship class in my opinion and I predict that's where he will end up unfortunately.

I wouldn't read too much into it. People seem to read quotes in the Adver as though the players have sat down and carefully prepared responses to the questions, when in fact they are just off-the-cuff remarks said as they try to get rid of the journalist who is postponing their lunch.

I think sheehan has been pretty open with what he is doing.If he gets a better option he will obviously join them if not he will be here.

One problem with the Bosman free transfers is that the richer clubs are more tempted than ever to sign up players they dont actually need/want.

Sheehan will probably end up like Commingues, in the reserves at a championship team.
