Thought he wanted to retire in Plymouth? Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Rich Pullen on Thursday, April 22, 2010, 18:39:28 The role was a token gesture. I'll be interested to see who will take him on next.
Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, April 22, 2010, 18:41:36 Put your money on it being a job in Chilly Jocko Land, maybe near his spiritual home of Dundee.
Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Ralphy on Thursday, April 22, 2010, 19:14:12 Isn't he ill with Parkinson's?
Or did i dream that? Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Saxondale on Thursday, April 22, 2010, 19:17:45 He is.
Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: One F In Fitton on Friday, April 23, 2010, 00:01:27 I read a piece on him just the other day. He's got a mild form of Parkinsons. He said he's unaffected by it as long as he takes his pills 4 times (I think) per day. He just gets a bit of a shakey leg sometimes.
Retiring in Plimuff is still the plan, but he wants to carry on in fball for a bit first. Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Crozzer on Friday, April 23, 2010, 00:11:28 MK Dongs? Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, April 23, 2010, 00:18:09 Shame on him if he does :)

Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Spencer_White on Saturday, April 24, 2010, 06:58:25 Leaving through the back door.
Ruined his reputation there going back. Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: pauld on Saturday, April 24, 2010, 11:18:06 Leaving through the back door. Spot on Spencer. Don't ever go back somewhere you've been a legend, you can only lose. Good piece on the Beeb about what's gone wrong there this season:Ruined his reputation there going back. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/plymouth_argyle/8632083.stm Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: One F In Fitton on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 01:24:49 LUGGY = ELVIS :D Maybe he'll manage Bury ? :D Like what you did there. Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: One F In Fitton on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 01:31:36 He just gets a bit of a shakey leg sometimes. Shakin' Stevens? Behind The Green Door? A joke in there somewhere? Maybe......too pissed to work it out...... Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 16:11:29 They might want him back, Mariner seems deluded, and the board don't go up to games: That is "the goal and...the hope" of the Argyle head coach, speaking after the Pilgrims' 3-0 defeat at play-off bound Nottingham Forest. "There are no guarantees in football, but I don't think we're far off," said Paul. "I'm 100% the right person to get this club up. I care about this club and know exactly what this team needs to be successful. "We're not that far off. If you look at our results [this season], even though we have got a lot of losses, we haven't been played off the park by too many teams. "So, if we just tinker with it a little bit, I think we'll be okay." Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 16:42:18 Spot on Spencer. Good piece on the Beeb about what's gone wrong there this season: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/plymouth_argyle/8632083.stm Although it has to be said Walter Smith has elevated himself to the position of Super Godlike Legend going back to Rangers! Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Arriba on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 17:37:00 surely luggy will enjoy his retirement on the south coast now?
maybe a bit of scouting too? Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 17:56:32 Crozzer, I dont know about Mariner. They did get some unexpectedly good results, like good wins at Barnsely and Scunthorpe. I can remmember that because I bet against them.
Remmember Southampton sacked Nigel Pearson when they were at the bottom of the Championship and he really proved himself a year later at Leicester, as Saints got relegated. The real problem he has is that he doesnt look like a manager so people dont take him seriously! He looks like a poor mans Elvis Costello. Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 17:59:35 Didn't realize that Andy King was appointed "Head Scout" at Colchester United this year, moving from Plymouth. Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: alanmayes on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 18:25:07 Sturrock has sold his Plymouth home and is in the process of moving back to Scotland.
Argyle fans realised before the end of the 2008 season that his style of football and signings weren't what they had hoped for and they started to turn against him in larger and larger numbers during his tenure. Some of the criticisms have been personal and quite nasty. It's very interesting to note that there has been a real about turn towards Holloway and many wish he was still there. They feel that Stapleton duped them in blaming Holloway for the impending loss in the quality players that they had at that time eg.Ebanks-Blake,Buzsaky, Halmosi etc etc. Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 20:57:34 Crozzer, I dont know about Mariner. Interesting article including the possibility of an Exeter, Plymouth derby. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/p/plymouth_argyle/8632083.stm Title: Re: Luggy leaves Plymouth Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, April 25, 2010, 21:38:30 including the possibility of an Exeter, Plymouth derby. ah yes, the derby fixture that was "never ever going to happen again". I hope Exeter survive just for that fixture.
