Title: Mobile phone recycling Post by: tans on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 14:42:52 Afternoon chaps,
Has anyone used one of the above services such as mazuma etc? Is it worth the hassle and does it take long for it all to be sorted? Just i want to cancel my phone contract and it will cost 160 quid, and i have loads of phones lying around including a new nokia e71 Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: bigbobjoylove on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 14:43:58 Was wondering this myself. Got a couple of brickish late 90's phones in a draw somewhere.

I got alot more in Vouchers then I did for cash and It all went through really quickly - they updated me by email at every stage -managed to get my sisters present! my favourite bit was when she turned around to me and said she "wasnt doing gifts" this year!!
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: tans on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 14:50:51 I went on the website and allegedly the total for the 6 phones is £240.
£160 to pay contract off and get an iphone on a different contract with a different provider 80 quid for beer. sounds like a result to me Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 14:51:52 Id say go for it
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: jonny72 on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 14:54:07 Worth checking what you'd get for them on eBay, always surprises me how much people will pay for a second hand phone even if it is still locked to a specific network.
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: tans on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 14:56:25 that was also another option i was thinking about
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: richt1976 on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 15:05:42 I've used a couple of firms, one of them was Mazuma.
They took a phone which Vodafone said they couldnt repair because of 'water damage' and paid me the full whack for it. I also sold a couple of older phones as well. The whole process was fairly quick and the cheques arrived a lot sooner than I expected. I had to pay the recrded delivery postage for one place and got a record of postage for the other. I would do it again, in fact I intend to do it when the one I hvae comes to the end of its contract! Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: tans on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 15:07:15 one of the phones i intend to get rid off is on the contract i want to cancel.
will it make a difference? or do they only check to see if its nicked or not? Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: yeo on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 15:19:35 You dont send the sim card with itso how would they even know?
Tis easy and no hassle at all,i wouldnt bother with e bay its just hassle. Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: tans on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 15:21:10 the IMEI number?
but then would only flag up if it has been nicked Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Chubbs on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 15:45:37 i used mazuma and had no problems, wasnt even my phone, i found it.
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Nemo on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 15:50:57 Sold two of my old phones to Envirophone- quick and professional, one of them was broken, so they emailed me and said they'd either accept it at a lower price or mail it back free of charge, which was good of them (especially as both of them were broken as far as I was concerned).
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 16:11:28 i used mazuma and had no problems, wasnt even my phone, i found it. You cunt! I want my phone back. Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Phil_S on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 16:22:13 Worth checking what you'd get for them on eBay, always surprises me how much people will pay for a second hand phone even if it is still locked to a specific network. Good advice. I signed up to the News of the world MPX Exchange & sold my old phone. Theya sked me if I wanted to become an agent which I looked into & got all the details. I then went on to e-bay with the idea of buying phones & then selling them for a profit to MPX. Virtually all phones were selling for more than the going rate with MPX. I currently have a LG touch screen that I want to sell. They offer £22 & I know I can get more like £40. Having said that the service is very good & hassle free. Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Langers on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 16:29:45 Ive used envirfone before and they are very good, just send them your phones and they will value them for you. Its good if you have a broken phone as you wouldnt be able to sell it on.
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 16:52:47 I'd like to know how they make their money and exactly what their business model is. I presume they're being resold through a second hand site they own, or possibly eBay or something.
I'm pretty sick of the not particularly believable, de rigeur, environmentalism banded about by business as some sort of usp, when it benefits the environment less than it benefits their bottom line. Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: tans on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 16:53:15 Yeah, they certainly aint going to Uganda
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 17:41:37 They sell them abroad.
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 18:33:35 I've only ever had one mobile phone...the coltan essential to its function is mainly found in the Congo, and has led to the deforestation of the habit of the mountain gorilla.
Proceeds from its mining have also helped fund the genocides in Rwanda and Burundi.... If more people stuck with this policy...the world would be a much better place for News Monkey and the African pygmies....think about it next time you're acquiring a phone you don't actually need... Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: pauld on Thursday, January 28, 2010, 21:17:19 But how will vacuous teens update their Twatter status to tell us what they're having for lunch if they don't keep upgrading their phones every two minutes?
Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: LJ9 on Friday, January 29, 2010, 12:38:02 Go to moneysavingexpert.com and go to mobile recycling.
Type in your make and model and it gives you a list of what recycling companies will pay you what. I sold my Nokia N95 for £90 and it was quick and easy Title: Re: Mobile phone recycling Post by: walrus on Sunday, January 31, 2010, 15:41:08 This thread reads like one of the fucking adverts on the telly... Do you all work for Envirophone or something?
