Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Ginginho on Monday, November 9, 2009, 16:42:32 I'm a bit scared of wasps, whether it's a phobia, i'm not so sure.
What classifies it as a phobia? If I run around screaming like a girl if a wasp is chasing me, does that mean it's a phobia or that i'm just a big wuss? Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Langers on Monday, November 9, 2009, 17:52:45 The wierdest phobia i have seen is the fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. Its called anatidaephobia.
No, really. http://www.answers.com/topic/anatidaephobia Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Sippo on Monday, November 9, 2009, 18:17:14 you wont cross them sippo? I'll cross them reluctantly in the car but I get the real sweats on if I do. Never walk accross them. Title: Re: Phobias Post by: flammableBen on Monday, November 9, 2009, 18:26:30 I'm terrified that one day I'll develop one of these crazy unfounded fears and will no longer be able to feel superior over those mentals which already have one.
Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Langers on Monday, November 9, 2009, 18:27:47 Is that a phobia? The phobia of being terrified of getting a phobia!

Its called anatidaephobia. No, really. http://www.answers.com/topic/anatidaephobia That's a fucking ace phobia. I remember the first time i bumped into Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, clearly named by a Brit with a strong sense of irony. Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Bedford Red on Monday, November 9, 2009, 19:21:16 Heights is my only phobia, spiders etc don't bother me in the slightest but heights scare the living crap out of me.
If i have to go up anywhere high, i just have this feeling that i want to jump off to get it over with rather than have to stay up there, so my feet always stay firmly on the ground if possible. Flying i am ok once i'm up high enough that i can't see the ground! Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Ginginho on Monday, November 9, 2009, 19:25:29 I was on holiday a few years ago, in a queue at a bar and the woman in front of me asked the guy behind the counter for a tea bag. The man next to her jumped out of his skin and then proclaimed to have a phobia of teabags.
I wasn't convinced he was genuine though, and thought it was more an attempt to start a conversation with this bird :) Title: Re: Phobias Post by: DerbyRed on Monday, November 9, 2009, 20:18:42 Heights is my only phobia, spiders etc don't bother me in the slightest but heights scare the living crap out of me. Flying i am ok once i'm up high enough that i can't see the ground! I'm the same - can't cope with heights if I'm not enclosed - break out in a cold sweat and have to really force myself to move. However flying I'm absolutely fine with, and even things like the London Eye I can cope with as I'm completely enclosed (although I wouldn't say I'm entirely comfortable doing it!). Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, November 9, 2009, 20:24:36 phobophobia? You're right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phobophobia Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, November 9, 2009, 20:27:19 My favourite phobia has to be Aibohphobia, the fear of palindromes. Whoever came up with that clearly had a sense of irony.
Title: Re: Phobias Post by: 4D on Monday, November 9, 2009, 20:46:35 I'm not afraid of anything :)
Oh, hang on....................... :fishing: Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Barry Scott on Monday, November 9, 2009, 22:56:18 Heights is my only phobia, spiders etc don't bother me in the slightest but heights scare the living crap out of me. Flying i am ok once i'm up high enough that i can't see the ground! I've a strange relationship with heights and don't consider it a phobia, as i think it's just vertigo, if that's not the same thing. I like the fear of height and it makes me anxious, which i also enjoy, but i get a bit unsteady and even of watching heights on a TV, or Youtube, i still have to hang on to something. My old man is similar except he has a proper fear of heights and gets no enjoyment from them at all. He was a pilot. :) Title: Re: Phobias Post by: Crozzer on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, 00:27:42 Ergasiophobia and Sphenisciphobia.
