Title: Cirencester Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 10:48:33 looks like the polish keeper is playing tonight, and Panikos Efthymiades- is that the greek trialist?
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 10:53:08 Swindon Town: Jakub Jesionkowski, Scott Cuthbert, Sean Morrison, Craig Easton, Mark Marshall, Lloyd Macklin, Nathan Thompson, Callum Kennedy, Bradley Clark, Jan Klukowski, Panikos Efthymiades, Dean McDonald
Isn't Efthymiades the 60s/70s guy who scored loads? I wonder if it's another code name sitaution. Or maybe just his son or something. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Red Frog on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 10:57:10 Including a striker/attacking midfielder triallist who has drifted around non-league and appears to have just signed a contract with Farnborough Town. Go figure.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_McDonald (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_McDonald) Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:00:58 Panikos Efthymiades- is that the greek trialist? According to Wikipedia, this bloke was supposedly top scorer in 1965/66, 1968/69 and 1970/71. Would probably still do a job for us even if he is in his 60s now. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: glos_robin on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:05:23 Swindon Town: Jakub Jesionkowski, Scott Cuthbert, Sean Morrison, Craig Easton, Mark Marshall, Lloyd Macklin, Nathan Thompson, Callum Kennedy, Bradley Clark, Jan Klukowski, Panikos Efthymiades, Dean McDonald Possibly reading too much into this but looking at that team would suggest none of the 'starters' for Saturdays game have been picked so does that mean it's going to be Greer and Ifil as 1st choice centre backs to begin with? Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:22:55 According to Wikipedia, this bloke was supposedly top scorer in 1965/66, 1968/69 and 1970/71. Would probably still do a job for us even if he is in his 60s now. he's cypriot and played in the cypriot league, not the greek league. the standard of which is lower than the welsh and norn iron leaguesi guess it could be this guy though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christos_Efthymiou Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Arch Stanton on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:48:13 I remember Dean McDonald, I used to work with an Ipswich season ticket holder. He absolutely hated Sam Parkin by the way, and used to hold me personally responsible for why they signed him.
He always said McDonald was going to be the next big thing to come out of Farm LandTM, he bigged him up to say he'll be better than Kieran Dyer one day..... whataprick, never liked the man. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:50:34 he's cypriot and played in the cypriot league, not the greek league. the standard of which is lower than the welsh and norn iron leagues i guess it could be this guy though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christos_Efthymiou The cypriot league is a bit like the SPL. Two or three good teams but the rest are pants. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:53:44 he's cypriot and played in the cypriot league, not the greek league. the standard of which is lower than the welsh and norn iron leagues i guess it could be this guy though http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christos_Efthymiou Thats who I thought Sonic. I think the bloke from Cyprus is not a striker but a left back http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christos_Efthymiou Cyprus U21 international, I am sure Fitton said we were getting a left back in on trial this week from a foreign team. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:54:32 Where is Kennedy playing then?
Looks like a striker to me (from the line up) Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 11:58:16 I think DW will play Kennedy as a left midfield.
With Macklin playing behind the striker...much like the first team have been playing. Jakub Jesionkowski Panikos Efthymiades Scott Cuthbert Sean Morrison Nathan Thompson Craig Easton Mark Marshall Callum Kennedy Lloyd Macklin then two out of three for the other 2 positions. Bradley Clark Jan Klukowski Dean McDonald Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:02:35 Wilson won't be there :)
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:05:13 I also think that £8 for a youth/reserve fixture is a bit OTT as well IMO.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:06:48 i hope wilson will be there, he's supposed to be making decisions on some of these players.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:08:22 I think P2P and some of the Trust boys will be a bit miffed if he is Sonic
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Sippo on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:09:40 Quote Trialist striker Jan Klukowski will also be handed another chance to impress in the frontline along with Bradley Clark Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Saxondale on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:15:01 I also think that £8 for a youth/reserve fixture is a bit OTT as well IMO. Thats about standard for southern league level. Think thats what you pay at chippenham. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: ronnie21 on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:21:48 I also think that £8 for a youth/reserve fixture is a bit OTT as well IMO. Does sound expensive, but let's face it we use their indoor training facilities during the winter and this fixture is payback time! Supporters to pay!!Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Phil_S on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:30:11 Possibly reading too much into this but looking at that team would suggest none of the 'starters' for Saturdays game have been picked so does that mean it's going to be Greer and Ifil as 1st choice centre backs to begin with? Greer, & Danny Wilson are in the legends lounge tonight along with Don RogersTitle: Re: Cirencester Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 12:35:26 Does sound expensive, but let's face it we use their indoor training facilities during the winter and this fixture is payback time! Supporters to pay!! It's also the minimum price they can charge for league games, so I suspect they've just chosen the normal price for the friendly too. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: glos_robin on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 13:37:44 Greer, & Danny Wilson are in the legends lounge tonight along with Don Rogers What about the other 8 or 9 other definate starters, other than Morrison no one in that team you would really expect to see in our line-up for the Gillingham game so seems abit odd and would indicate that Ifil will start on Saturday.Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 13:38:58 To be fair, I'd say that based on the pre-season games so far, Macklin must fancy his chances of starting against Gillingham.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: @MacPhlea on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 19:07:19 1-0 town Yan the man
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 19:09:09 Without wanting to sound like getting carried a way... I think Klukowski is worth a serious look as opposed to these little run-outs. His experience in the U.S. was probably better than any footballing education he could of got here outside the Premiership.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: @MacPhlea on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 19:26:07 Agreed. He looks better than anything on display in our previous friendlies this season
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: @MacPhlea on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 19:34:41 Half time. Not brilliant but it is pissing down. Yan looks handy, definately worth a punt. There's also a small forward with him that has a good touch but is a stockier version of macca (who is sat next to me) the keeper looks nervous but during warn up was pulling some pretty impressive saves and macklin is playing well
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 19:42:56 That small forward is Bradley Clarke, Hungerford striker.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: jonny72 on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 20:04:02 What formation are they playing? 3 or 4 at the back?
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: LucienSanchez on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 20:04:54 I'd not be adverse to taking Yan the Man on... he can be this years Mohammed/Onibuje/Razak/Opara
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Arch Stanton on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 20:18:34 I'd not be adverse to taking Yan the Man on... he can be this years Mohammed/Onibuje/Razak/Opara Every one a scrabble winner....and Yan would be no different! Finished 4-3 to cirencester - keeper needs a confidence boost, not a good performance from him but the plus points were McDonald (I think) and yan the man, both had good touches and scored goals.
I was talking to bradleys dad - he was the no. 18 who came on in the second half. Funniest moment was Marshy the mascot coming on for Lloyd macklin and being instructed by Byrne to stay as far away from the ball as possible. 30 seconds later he gets the passed to him and he gets a boot in the head and goes off injured!! When he comes back on byrne gives him the instruction to stand in front of our left back so he runs and keeps on running straight past him with byrne and all the crowd shouting stop running! Funny as fuck and well worth the 8 quid! Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Batch on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 20:59:23 Marshy as in the old guy? Fuck, almost wish I'd gone now.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 21:31:19 Fred'll be gutted.
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 22:17:55 That small forward is Bradley Clarke, Hungerford striker. How did he play? He's lived his whole life in Swindon. Saying in conversation the other day it would be great to pick up a late starter. Just doesnt seem to happen anymore. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Fred Elliot on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, 22:20:48 Fred'll be gutted. SHIT SHIT AND FUCKING DOUBLE SHIT ! Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: @MacPhlea on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 06:54:49 How did he play? He's lived his whole life in Swindon. Saying in conversation the other day it would be great to pick up a late starter. Just doesnt seem to happen anymore. He didn't get much of the ball as we seemed to be playing through the centre and down the right however when he did he has a good touch and shows some potential. I was talking to his dad for most of the second half and apparently he was set to start but with McDonald there they wanted to put him to the test so Bradley started on the bench. Hopefully they will get some good news... Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: @MacPhlea on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 07:43:03 Official site says it was a 3-3 draw. How did Cuthbert look at the back? What was the Cypriot fella like? hmmm... we took a 1-0 lead (Yan the Man) into half time then went down to 2 cirencester goals in the second half making it 2-1 then McDonald levelled it and our No 15 made it 3-2 and then the keeper fumbled it through his hands 3-3 then the penalty 4-3... of course the San Miguel could be playing games in my head. Cuthbert, wasn't that impressive but the Cypriot fella looked OK. Yan is definitely worth a contract, he's a big bloke but not short on pace and knows where the goal is Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Arch Stanton on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 07:45:15 So judging on last nights performance is it worth a punt on McDonald or Yan the Man then?
Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: @MacPhlea on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 08:17:04 Yan the Man: Definately. Held the ball up well, had good vision and wasn't greedy. turned well to poach an unexpected opportunity and had a number of other chances that didn't quite fall for him - certainly would have been nice to see how he would have done against WBA or Cardiff
Dean McDonald: depends on what his wage demands are - good first touch and well taken, though slightly fortunate, goal. Linked up well with Yan and distributed well. Bradley Clarke: Wouldn't cost the earth but could prove to be a gem - worth getting him on the books as potential investment Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: wheretherealredsare on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 08:23:28 Next time you cut the grass maybe mow your comments into the pitch, instead of circles or stripes whatever. As DW was otherwise engaged last night I'm sure he would find it very helpful.

Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 09:10:17 I don't know what the TTF is?
I was going to go, but it was raining and wasn't sure it would be another Chippenham-type game i.e. a boring game which was a waste of time, money and petrol. Title: Re: Cirencester Post by: Batch on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, 09:18:47 I don't know what the TTF is? Toothill Terror Front?
